With any uncredited cast, it would make sense to be able to cross reference them with other profiles in your collection in which they appear and add to data across the entire database, so I always use the CLT or any common name threads to see which name to enter.
In the case of this music disc, you could add the cast using the common name and then the credited as field for the stage names. | Posted: Topic Replies: 1, Topic Views: 235 |

It's possible to run the Windows software on a Mac with VM software. Is there a shortcut to this? I'm currently switching from an old Windows desktop to a MacBook and want to carry on using DVD Profiler if possible. | Posted: Topic Replies: 4, Topic Views: 8066 |

There are a lot of spam threads on this section of the forum, ranging from call girls to technology.
Does anyone have moderation powers to delete them and ban the users? | Posted: Topic Replies: 5, Topic Views: 1587 |

Quote: Is there another way of updating a database from adding the Online List to the folder? This did work, but recently it isn't, and I don't want to go down the full download route without any say over whether to accepted the updates or not, as mentioned by Lithurge earlier on. Doing what I suggested doesn't force you to update the individual profiles.
All it does is make sure you've got the relevant file that tells your local profiler if an update or 'new' profile (if you don't already have it in your list) exists and is available for download. That's very reassuring and helpful, thanks | Posted: Topic Replies: 11, Topic Views: 3160 |

I understand the frustration because I have done exactly this, adding the entire cast and crew for a film, contributing, and accidentally refreshing the database and removing all the work done.
In that case, it was fortunate that the update was approved and released a week or so later, but it was a nervous time hoping that the profile update would not be declined, forcing me to do all the work again. | Posted: Topic Replies: 6, Topic Views: 2156 |

Quote: I have a few UHD players, so I can play all my discs. What I don't have is an external drive which I can connect to my PC which reads UHDs, so I can load the Disc IDs into DVD Profiler for UHDs. And I can't create an entry for "Fog City", which comes in a Steelbook without a UPC.
Is my only recourse to buy an external UHD drive? They seem pretty pricey for what I want to use them for. Or are there any Blu-ray drives which can read the Disc Ids of UHDs (even if it can't play them)?
What's the cheapest option out there for this? I have the Verbatim HD 4K External Slimline Blu-Ray and DVD x6 Writer USB-C / A, which was about £90. | Posted: Topic Replies: 7, Topic Views: 3391 |

Quote: Seriously guys? The end credits make a definite and first hand statement about the countries of origin (see the screenshot above), and you want to change that? Isn't there a difference between a list of countries at the end of the credits and the specific rules about the order in which those countries should appear depending on the role of the studio? | Posted: Topic Replies: 13, Topic Views: 7725 |

Quote: The index of accepted/documented birth years that was previously listed here, wasn't being updated any more. Instead of keeping an incomplete list, I'm now providing a link to an up-to-date list, maintained by Kluge:
www.luigifilocamo.it/BY.html
Please keep in mind that birth years are only valid when they're necessary to differentate between two people who share the same common name - only sharing name variants isn't enough. Also note that as far as the need for birth years are concerned, there is no separation between cast and crew - so adding a birth year to differentiate between a cast and crew member is valid. Is the website down? I can't access it. | Posted: Topic Replies: 5786, Topic Views: 385359 |

Quote: You can download the online profile list directly from your browser and save it to your "My Documents\DVD Profiler" directory. The next time you start DVD Profiler, it will automatically import the downloaded file.
Download the file by right-clicking on the download link below and selecting "Save Target As". Then, browse to your "My Documents" folder, then into "DVD Profiler" from there. Save the downloaded file.
Download link: OnlineList.dod This works! Just make sure you download the file into the directory indicated, and then restart Profiler. That was extremely helpful and enabled me to catch up on a sizeable backlog of approved profile updates that had been stuck somewhere.

Quote: To me, it is neither "Vintage Classics" nor "MGM Vintage Classics". There is the "Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer logo" on the cover. There are the words "Vintage Classics" or the cover, but neither of those is an edition. "Vintage Classics" is just some text they put on the cover (not an actual edition).
I checked several MGM DVDs in my collection with similar covers and nowhere on the actual DVD disc label does it say "Vintage Classics".
I actually have a couple of doubled dipped DVDs, and the cover on one copy says "Vintage Classics" and the cover on other DVD cover does not, but both have the exact same DVD with the exact same label inside.
If the cover actually said "Vintage Classics Edition" or "MGM Vintage Classics Edition", I would accept that in the profile.
If the cover actually said "Vintage Classics Collection" or "MGM Vintage Classics Collection", I would accept that in the profile. I agree with this. The rules state that "the Edition field is for distinguishing between DVDs, and for indicating special versions and collections"; Vintage Classics is neither a special version nor a collection. | Posted: Topic Replies: 8, Topic Views: 5197 |
