Quote: As far as the general public goes they really can't tell the difference... This could also be why DVD's are still out-selling Bluray/4K disks... which for i'd say, for all of us here, is just ludicrous.. why would you buy a DVD when you can get a 4K disk? But it is happening, DVD sales are still stupid high.
Speaking only for myself, I buy DVD's and BR for collectible purposes, but also because I just don't see enough of an improvement between BR and 4k, especially in what I personally like to watch. The only value I usually see is in the special features, but often enough I can get those exact same features on the BR. And when it comes to older shows and movies (especially shows) when they upscale them from DVD they look terrible. Look at the Buffy BR releases. Why I would want an inferior product? With low budget/indie movies, unless a company spends a lot of time on the remaster and upscale, it looks awful in 4k, and often didn't look particularly great on BR. For me, there simply isn't value in 4k. There wasn't enough of a jump in quality from BR like there was in VHS to DVD and frequently was in DVD to BR. I'm not investing money and space into "slightly better, sometimes noticeably better." | Posted: Topic Replies: 241, Topic Views: 55671 | |
