To avoid any confusion:
- When you use the internal functions in DVD Profiler to read the ID of DVDs, you should always have AnyDVD running.
- When you use Add by DVD Disc ID or DiscIDCheck, you should never have AnyDVD (or any other "on-the-fly" decryption software) running.
Same with dvdid.exe (two different programs with the same name). Always disable AnyDVD before running them! http://dvdid.cjkey.org.uk/ https://www.xreveal.com/download/dvdid.exe
That works for me, and I always get the same Disc ID. | Posted: Topic Replies: 14, Topic Views: 6704
Now it works! It's funny - there's only one choice in the pull-down menu. For me, that's drive letter F:.
Apparently it only works if you're given a choice, even if you only have one choice... | Posted: Topic Replies: 14, Topic Views: 6704
"Drive not ready!"
Am I doing something wrong? My DVD/Blu-ray drive is on letter F:. Do I have to configure that somewhere? | Posted: Topic Replies: 14, Topic Views: 6704 | | Quoting GSyren:

I suppose I'll have to test DJ's AddByDVDDiscID to see what that produces. You're right. There's a vertical bar that splits the number in two parts. If you just disregard that, the number sequence should be correct.
You can also try this program with the same name (dvdid.exe): https://www.xreveal.com/download/dvdid.exe The number to look for should be the one on the first line, "dvdid_win7:". | Posted: Topic Replies: 228, Topic Views: 32047 | | Quoting widescreenforever:
Quote: I've updated three dvds today with dic id to profler and it worked fine. am I missing something on your post? running windows 10 .. Are you missing something? You tell me!
If you have AnyDVD installed and running, you should be good to go, and the DVD IDs read by the internal tools in DVD Profiler should be correct. A good practice might be to make a note in your contribution that "The Disc ID has been read with AnyDVD active" so that the reviewers will know that you're aware of the problem. (For Blu-rays it doesn't matter, only for DVDs.)
Since Redfox has mysteriously vanished from the net, you can't buy a new license for AnyDVD, but GreyHulk has graciously volunteered to provide an old version of AnyDVD if you ask him: http://www.invelos.com/Forums.aspx?task=viewtopic&topicID=926221&PageNum=14&messageID=3447165#M3447165
If you don't own AnyDVD, or don't want to use it, you could try to install the plugin Add by DVD Disc ID: http://doena-journal.net/en/dvd-profiler-tools#AddByDVDDiscID Note that AnyDVD or any other "on-the-fly" decrypting software (DVDFab, Xreveal etc.) must not be active while using that plug-in.
You can verify that the Disc ID is correct with this tool: http://dvdid.cjkey.org.uk/ Note that AnyDVD or any other "on-the-fly" decrypting software (DVDFab, Xreveal etc.) must not be active while using that tool. | Posted: Topic Replies: 228, Topic Views: 32047 | | Quoting mreeder50:
Quote: If you have a Slysoft (Redfox) Key, I have 8.7.0.0 and can email it to whoever wants it. If you have a valid Slysoft or Redfox key, and only want to download the software, you can do so at VideoHelp: https://www.videohelp.com/software/AnyDVD/old-versions
Note that if you have a Slysoft key, you should download one of the 7-versions, if you have a Redfox key, you should download one of the 8-versions.
If you don't have a key, and only want AnyDVD for correcting the DVD ID when reading it in DVD Profiler, you can take GreyHulk up on his generous offer earlier in this thread: http://www.invelos.com/Forums.aspx?task=viewtopic&topicID=926221&PageNum=14&messageID=3447165#M3447165 | Posted: Topic Replies: 228, Topic Views: 32047 | | Quoting zappman:

AnyDVD HD 7.6.9.2 by RedFox.bz
7.6.9.2 is a pretty old version of AnyDVD. Even though it may have been released by Redfox, which was a newly formed company at the time, it still bears the legacy of Slysoft, and must be activated using a Slysoft key. I don't remember all the details, but Redfox may have honored the Slysoft registrations for a short while to allow current users some time to purchase new licenses.
Having said that, I have now installed AnyDVD 7.6.9.2 and DVD Profiler on a spare computer, and that combination works very well indeed - I get the correct DVD IDs every time.
So it's a mystery to me why it doesn't work for you. Perhaps you have some other software that conflicts with AnyDVD?
A word of caution, though. If you wish to use the plugin "Add by DVD Disc ID", you must disable AnyDVD, or else it will read incorrect IDs !!! That plugin is not compatible with AnyDVD. | Posted: Topic Replies: 228, Topic Views: 32047 | | Quoting zappman:

My licensed copy of AnyDVD has always given the WRONG Disc ID. That's really strange. AnyDVD has always worked for me to correct the DVD IDs in Windows 10. Which version(s) of AnyDVD have you been using? Some very old ones may not have implemented the code to correct the DVD IDs.

The way to get the correct Disc ID every time is to use the DVD Profiler "Add by DVD Disc ID" Plug-in by DJ Doena.
See: http://www.invelos.com/Downloads.aspx?display=plugins and http://doena-journal.net/en/dvd-profiler-tools#AddByDVDDiscID I agree that it does work in many cases, but it may be a little cumbersome. Normally, you would want your DVDs filed under their UPC/EAN-codes, not under their Disc IDs. And in many cases, you would want to add the Disc ID to an existing profile.
In those cases you would have to use the plug-in to create a new "dummy" profile in the database, copy the Disc ID to your proper profile, and then delete the dummy one.
However, what to do if there are more than one disc in your DVD set, for example a main feature and bonus materials on separate discs? I haven't found any way to enter the IDs of more than one disc. Perhaps you can teach us some clever trick? | Posted: Topic Replies: 228, Topic Views: 32047 | | Quoting GSyren:

Quote: So is there a replacement for AnyDVD? Sort of - but they don't seem to work with DVD Profiler. DVDFab Passkey is the closest there is. But it costs … Yes. Aside from its cost, Passkey would be a good replacement for AnyDVD if you're only interested in its region free and decryption abilities. But it would be of no use for correcting the DVD IDs if you're a user of DVD Profiler.
As you can see from my post above, with Passkey loaded, DVD Profiler will read yet another (nonsense) DVD ID. | Posted: Topic Replies: 228, Topic Views: 32047 | | Quoting Kishiro:
Quote: That's interesting... Hmmm, I can't replicate your findings. On my system I get the same disc-id regardless of Decryptor software. It seems pretty consistent here. The problem is with DVD's, not Blu-rays. Blu-rays will always render the same Disc-ID, no matter which Windows-version or decryptor software.
Try it with a DVD instead, and I'm sure you'll get results similar to mine! | Posted: Topic Replies: 228, Topic Views: 32047 | | Things are getting complicated...
Redfox, the maker of AnyDVD, simply vanished without a trace last month. That means that AnyDVD will no longer be updated. If you only need it for correcting the Disc ID in DVD Profiler, that may not be a big issue. But if you use it for its intended purpose - playing discs from any region, or other functions that rely on its decryption engine, you may want some other software that's being updated to cope with the latest discs.
So is there a replacement for AnyDVD? Sort of - but they don't seem to work with DVD Profiler.
Xreveal looked promising. In its Status window, it displays the correct DVDID, both as old and new versions of Windows see it: Disc Information Label: <23934 Julens hjaltar disk1> Capacity: 7,92 GB (4157680 sectors) Timestamp: 2014-04-15 08:15:08 +01:00 Authoring tool: DVDID: 97C58A2E982ED034 DVDID_win10: E860E8F051493F7F
But, strangely enough, with Xreveal running, DVD Profiler reads a third DVDID that has no resemblance to the two above: 85BB69235A856D78 [<23934 Julens hjaltar disk1>]
So I tried DVDFab Passkey which makes DVD Profiler read yet another DVDID: 53420C3C7205C307 [<23934 Julens hjaltar disk1>]
