Hi Guys,

Lots of interesting 'nicknames' here & often times some good stories as to why. Okay! I'll start, my story, as to why I use Rico, a little boring but:

My wife & I met, are snowback brother & sister-in-law, in New Orleans, for vacation. My real name is Rick & my brother-in-law took to calling me Rico and the handle stuck.

Take Care
Rico

How about them Ducks, eh!
If I felt any better I'd be sick!

Ya-shin is my Chinese name, supposed to sound as cose to my german name Achim as possible.

I don't know anymore why I put the underscore there (maybe they didn't allow the dash at the time...?), when I registered an e-mail address with it, but I stuck with it ever since.
Achim [諾亞信; Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan.

Ok, here goes...

Many years ago, when I was but a young lad, I liked the word "Aardvark" - it was my standard answer for questions I didn't understand/know the real answer to.

I think it came from my father and me watching Monty Python's Flying Circus together (Which I still enjoy now)

Anyway... after a while, friends of mine started calling me Aardvark.... (perhaps I need "help") and one friend said "Since you are overweight (this is true, still am), you should be called "Fat Aardvark", and thus.... The Fat Aardvark was born.

I used this nick when I started BBS'ing (ahhhh FidoNet), but after time had passed, some other firends said "Hummm Fat Aardvark is a bit harsh... why not become The Funky Love Aardvark (I gave/give good hugs)?"

So I did

This became FunkyLA

AKA

TFLA (AKA The Four Letter Acronym)

AKA

Funky Aardvark

AKA

DoughNut (Work nic name - even longer story, don't ask!)

AKA

Graham

and now WAKE UP, I have finished boring you
Signature? We don't need no stinking... hang on, this has been done... blast [oooh now in Widescreen]
Ah... well you see.... I thought I'd say something more interesting... but cannot think of anything..... oh well

Hi, my nick is very apparent: I'm more or less a Star Trek junkie; Kahless is an episode character from the series TNG/DS9, creator of the first Klingon bat'leth. As a matter of course I'm a fan of many other series as well, but I had to make a decision

I got mine because of my brother... it all started when he teasingly complained about all the money I spend on my DVDs... and I told him... At least I spend my money on something that I get to keep and is not a health risk like him and his cigarettes... I told him... at least when I buy a DVD it I still have it after I used it once!

He came back with yeah... but with mine it is an addiction... I have to have it! So I told him you don't think DVD collecting is addicting!?!? thats when he said.. yeah... you sure are addicted to DVDs. And I thought hmmmm... Addited2DVD!

I'm the one who thought of The VibroCounts' name and I run the website. Paul pulled us together with a nearly incomprehensible ad in a local music newspaper & he wears the hat, but I'm VibroCount.

I used to play in a band, and one of the songs we played, that I really loved, was called "Ross Roy" by Jacob de Haan.

At that time, I used another handle, but for reasons out of my control, I had to change. And I thought it had a nice ring to it. So I adopted it!

Mine comes from my nightclubbng days ... used to do some work behind the bar, and also as a fill-in DJ .. My first name is Tom, and last name starts with 'G' .. so they started saying 'DJ TommyG' and it's stuck ever since

I used to play the flight sim Falcon 4 online and was in a "virtual squadron" for the game.

Voltaire was my pilot callsign and the squadron was the 53rd Warhammers so Voltaire53

Ancient history, but here goes:

Nearly 15 years ago I had a BBS called "The Rift" - a theme board based on StarTrek: DS-9.  "The last outpost in Federation space, on the edge of the great Galactic Rift."  All my users were collectively known as Rifters by other BBS users in the area.

Been using that as a handle more or less ever since.
