Would anyone know where/what site I can go to, to get CD (music) art, CD Jewel Art, DVD Art, Box Art, etc, to be able to print out and make it look professional for my second set (back-ups ONLY)? I used to know some, but doing a seach for the sites gives the search engine confussion and I can't ever find the right site. I used to know of one that was VERY complete; for Computer games, music, DVDs... all art... CDs, DVDs, jewel cases, DVD cases, inside, outside, EVERYRTHING!

Ihave the CD stickers and I have color/photo paper, I just need the art work. And yes, it would be easy to just scan the ones I have (ok, so it wouldn't be simple, it would be very tiume consumming), but it would be much simler to be able to dnload the art and print it.

Can someone point me to the right site, please?

I'm anal-=retentive and I have a back up of ALL of my media, BUT, I want it to be a complete, professional looking duplicate/back-up. No, I swear, it is not for anything illegal. Legaly I'm allowed to make a single back-up of any disk for the purpose OF back-ups.

Please help.

Thank you in advance. Everyone who knows of a site, please respond. There is no such thing as to many sites. Thanx again.

I believe the whole "make a single back-up of any disk for the purpose OF back-ups" does NOT apply to DVDs.

I think it is still ILLEGAL to bypass/circumvent/disable the encryption on DVDs which would allow you to copy them.

Therefore, to do so IS piracy.

You have to know someone who knows someone.  Most, if not all, of the 'public' sites have been shut down as it is illegal to provide this kind of service.  This is the reason we are not allowed to include the spine when submitting cover scans.

Yes it is, but not if you have to surpass a copy protection. CSS, even though it's not efficient at all, is still a copy protection. So nearly no DVD can be copied legally.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

This one is good also but no spines...only front and back cover.

However as has been pointed out, what you are proposing is patently illegal, even for backups which are legal under fair trade. I think you would have a hard time defending yourself  with artwork as well. The risks are, while some might consider the probability small, up to $250,000 and/or 5 years per incident and the up to is probably dependent upon what is involved, for example being caught with 10 such "copies" would not be as bad as being caught with 1000. To pricey for my blood.

Thank you for all of your input, although some of you were off topic.

I am aware of the copy protection ;laws and in no way was I trying to "circumvent" them. I was simply using software that is already out there. If it did not make a viable copy, I give/gave up (on DVDs). Most music and game CDs are able to be replicated however. And since I don't have any consoles, i.e. Xbox, PS3, Wii, etc, those CDs/DVDs were not an issue.

My biggest concern was music and the backing up of the CDs. I have a child that gets into my books sometimes or into the ones I leave out and he plays Frisbee with them at times. Those were the actual back-ups I was interested in, but I figured I would include others. Norton, (Symantec), NERO, Easy Media Creator, XP - all versions, Vista, all versions, Office, all versions from the first to 2007, etc.

Thank you, however for all of your thoughts and inputs. BUT, regardless of whether it is possible or not, legally, you ARE allowed to make ONE back up copy for yourself.

And as far as "Piracy" being an issue, as far as I'm concerned, I'm not involved in "Piracy" as long as I don't give away, or sell for profit or any other reason. I have licenses for ALL of the software I want to make back-ups of and if the "Piracy" police came to my home, I would have nothing to be worried about.

I thank all of you for your replies and input.
Funny thing though... I was not notified by mail that I had received replies to my post. I'll check it out, but any suggestions, IN CASE I miss it, would be helpful.

For the purpose of name separation/differentiation, you can refer to me by my last name, Makepeace.

Thank you Bodi, BTW.

It all depends where you live. I may copy any copyrighted work for personal usage only (except computer programs). I may not publish (give away) any of those copies though. Technical copy protection is not (yet) mentioned at all in our copyright law.

I see we got off topic. WAY off topic.

I simply wanted to know of sites where I can print out covers for my CDs, whether they be music, games, programs, etc. DVS are very hard to copy although I have a program that does a good job of many different srtudios, BUT it isn't perfect. If it fails, I don't try again. This is for my own collection, AS BACK UPs ONLY.

If you know of any sites that have these covers available, polease let me know. THAT IS ALL I WANT. I KNOW THE LAW, AND FRANKLY, ALTHOUGH I FOLLOW IT WHEN IT COMES TO COPYWRITES, I DON'T GIVE A S**T. They make plenty of money as it is charging what they charge, even with china selling billions of bootlegs a year. I have no sympathy for the studios, but it doesn't mean I break the law... I don't. I believe strongly in intellectual property.

Thanks.

You're fairly new so you probably don't know but, "WAY off topic" is the norm around here.

Your best bet is to pick up a scanner and print off your own covers.

or if your cover is missing go to a library and borrow the title you need.

Here is an example of a DVD cover:

I own a DVD thats case was chewed by my dog (the DVD was out of the case)... It was "Craddle 2: The Grave". I own the original DVD, but the case and the paper linning was destroyed. I received a CD/DVD from AOL, and threw away the CD since AOL SUCKS!, (easy there, AOL ISN'T the topic). Now I have a case that I can use for "The Craddle 2: The Grave", BUT I have no cover. Wouldn't it be nice if I could find the cover, print it out and use it as necessary?

I'm not concerned about making back-ups of DVDs as much as CDs (any type, PC games, music, PC software, etc). DVDs are hard to copy and I don't usually try to often anymore (the issue now is finding the xtra cases. BUT in the example above, why not print a copy of the cover? Any other ideas to get the covers, other than stealing them from BlockBuster, which in my area is renting them with the original covers inserted? Not my style.

As far as a scanner... I have three. It is a pain in the ass to go through the scanning process rather than just downloading the image and printing it.
