Having just gotten my hands back on the three discs I had loaned to a cousin ages ago, I wondered how long some of you have had discs out on loan.  The three that I had loaned out were Saving Private Ryan and Identity back on March 30, 2005 and Enemy at the Gates on April 15, 2004...all returned today!  The sad thing is, he never even watched Enemy at the Gates in those four years either! At least they're all still in good condition. No more loaning out for me.

3-6 months for me.  But I knew when I lent it that it'd be at least that long...I knew that I wouldn't want to watch it in that time frame, so it was all good...

i said 3-6 months too, cause i'm pretty sure thats what its been. But I only loan to 2 people. My brother who also collects and my girlfriend (who has a fair amount of titles too). Both of them I know will respect and take care of my dvds. Girlfriend had one for 2 months (Rambo) and my brother currently has Indiana Jones (3 months) not sure if he watched it yet but since he's at school, and we live in different states I haven't actually seen him since he borrowed it.

Currently one of my DVDs is due for over 400 days
But I see this guy every day and we do loan out DVDs to each other all the time. This particular one he hasn't gotten around to completely watch it yet. He wanted it to give it another chance after having only watched the first episode so far ("Red Dward I"). But all the anime he is watching has higher priority

The record in my collection lies at 1 1/2 years. It was "The Hire" (collection of short movies centered around BMW cars starring Clive Owen. I particulary recommend "Star" and "Hostage". Can be found on YouTube) and when I got it back, my friend still didn't get around to watch it.

The poll is incomplete. How about "still waiting..."? Somehow "over 1 year" does not cover that appropriately!

Loaded out "Taking Lives" with Angelina Jolie to my sister back in October 2004. She in turned loaned it to someone else but can't remember who. I never got it back and haven't replaced it. No big loss really as it wasn't all that great of a film...except for that one scene... .

My brother is notoriously bad at returning things.  He used to come over and borrow 20 or 30 movies at a time.  6 or 7 months later he'd return 19 or 29 of them...  Now I only let him take two, and no more til he returns those.  But there are still a few that I've loaned him that I expect I'll never see again.

btw, Skip, I love your Blockbuster thing.

Skip's blockbuster thing was part of what prompted me to change my loan policy (only brother & girlfriend). Not that I really loaned out dvds anyway.

@8ball, if someone I loaned something (doesn't have to be dvds) reloaned that to someone else I would be extremely angry. Wouldn't care if it was that good of a movie. I just don't think its very respectful to start loaning out someone elses property.

I never loan anything out, except to my best friend every once in a while. I remember loaning a favorite book out when I was about 8 years old and simply never got it back, so I've been wary of loaning anything ever since.
