I looked in the credited as database, and couldn't find him there, I did see a mention of him in the thread, but wasn't sure if that was anything "official".

I'm updating my copy of Get Smart which currently only has a few actors attached to it. I'm filling out the cast list. Currently, the Dwayne Johnson is in the profile for Get Smart as The Rock. He's actually credited in the film as Dwayne Johnson.

How should I list him in the credits? In the credited as thread, I believe it said Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Should I do that and then use the credited as feature and enter just Dwayne Johnson there?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Oh, and is the CLT that everyone's referring to, the credited as database that's listed in the pinned thread? And if it's not, could someone point me in it's direction?
The night is calling. And it whispers to me soflty come and play.

Credited as
The Rock in:

The Rundown
Walking Tall
Be Cool
Doom
The Scorpion King

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in:

The game Plan
Gridiron Gang

Dwayne Johnson in:

Get Smart
Southland Tails

He had to be credited as The Rock in so many films per his contract with WWE. You now will see that slowly disappear.

"The Rock" is credited in the following 150 titles (342 profiles):
"Rocky Maivia" is credited in the following 0 titles (0 profiles):
"Flex Kavana" is credited in the following 0 titles (0 profiles):

"Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson" is credited in the following 19 titles (44 profiles):
"Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson" is credited in the following 14 titles (35 profiles):
"Dwayne Johnson" is credited in the following 117 titles (182 profiles):
"Dwayne Douglas Johnson" is credited in the following 0 titles (0 profiles):

best hits so are "The Rock" and "Dwayne Johnson" (150:117)

the "Dwayne Johnson" case is the best example, that the CLT is totally garbage if it's used strictly and blind followed.

In at least 5 years there will be more "Dwayne Johnson"-profiles than "The Rock"-profiles... and then? recontributing more than 300 profiles? Thats really senseless.

as a heuristc it's a interesting tool, but without using any brainpower it's totally useless.

to identify him best he should listed as "Dwayne Douglas Johnson" credited as "The Rock" or whatever he is credited.

Except that he's never ever credited as "Dwayne Douglas Johnson"... Is it just me, or does it really seem like we're going back to square one every single day?

but you have just said he is credited as "the rock" or as "Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson"
So where did you dream up "Dwayne Douglas Johnson"?

Or this some sort of personal preference which would require the updating of 603 titles? Way to go

oh.. hang on.. the common name is supposed to be the most used duh

So then, what does that all lead up to? Crediting him as The Rock because it's the most common and putting Dwayne Johnson in the credited as field?

I don't know if that really makes any sense to me. How often from here on out is he going to be credited as The Rock? The Rock was due to his affiliation with WWE (which I'm not all that familiar with to be honest) but basically, from here on out in his acting career, it appears that Dwayne Johnson is how it's going to be, and if he's credited as that in Get Smart, wouldn't that be the best approach to take?

I don't think I'm grasphing what is probably a fairly simple concept for the most common name and CLT here.

What I was really trying to get at was at least some consistency, but for his credits, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of consistency in the first place. So confused.

Unfortunately, we're notoriously bad on consistency. But hopefully things will improve a bit over time. I'll tell you the "fairly simple concept" you're looking for, though: we're always using the "most-credited form" as someone's name. Not the "real" or "correct" name, but simply how the person is mostly credited. Unfortunately, though, that means that common names are never set in stone and may change over time. Also, the only tool at our disposal to determine what that most-credited form might be, is the "credit lookup tool", and that tool is seriously flawed...

Okay, so, going by the results of the credit lookup tool (which are already posted in the thread), The Rock would be the way to go, using the credited as feature for Dwayne Johnson.

Yeah... I don't like that.

I can absolutely list him in the credits that way, no problems (was kind of teasing just now) but then I suppose that would bring up the conversation of when in five years his credits as only Dwayne Johnson for the projects he's made outnumber the credits for the projects he's made as The Rock, do we continue to go with The Rock, or change everything to Dwayne Johnson?

Or it begs the better question... why the hell are people screwing us over by using so many multiple names??

The "most-credited form" principle dictates that at that point, all entries will have to be changed. As I said already: consistency is not DVD Profiler's strong point...

I've just corrected a UK profile for "Gridiron Gang" where he was incorrectly listed (along with most of the rest of the cast, btw!) as just The Rock when it should have been Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

If anyone else has this title, in any format, it might be worth checking the credits...

Since this is an old thread, looks like Dwayne Johnson is now the more commonly credited as using CLT.

The Rock (108 titles / 379 profiles)
Dwayne Johnson (112 titles / 238 profiles)

The results are very ambiguous, there are a lot of imdb mined entry. A difference of only 4 title is not significative...

Although most recently, with Planet 51, he is going by Dwayne Johnson. Right now the CLT results confirm that, but as you said, who knows how much of it is true.

I'm wondering if a new thread should be created to figure out his most credited name (though I'm almost positive if it's The Rock, it will swing back to Dwayne Johnson within a couple of years and we'll have to go in and change all those credits).

I read somewhere recently that Duwayne Never wants to be referred to as The Rock again..
so in keeping CLT accurate the name should be registered as Duwayne Johnson for all his films , and the first few entrys of his profile where WWE demanded his name as The Rock should be his alias in those titles only .
