Search google for classical conditioning. Substitute Skip for bell and posters for dogs, although I think it misses the deliberate training part.

Seems fitting enough. I know I am conditioned to cringe every time I see Walt Disney anywhere. Poor Walt never did anything to me yet I have developed a very strong dislike for the man.

Ken has stated on more than one occasion NOT to initiate thread topics regarding particular users of the forums. However your dislike of a particular user may be...please keep it to yourselfs.

@Ken...please delete or lock this thread as it is, IMO, inappropriate and adds nothing to the forums.

Thank you

I could be wrong but I think it's more Rick's post that Max takes issue with.

That's true. But that really isn't the point. Just starting a thread like this, one that isolates one particular user, almost always encites negative feedback. That's why Ken has asked not to start threads about any particular user on these forums. I just don't think it's appropriate.

@xradman

You may not dislike Skip, but initiating a thread regarding him was an error in judgement IMO. There are always those that will take advantage and post all manner of jabs at the user whether it was your intention or not.

I agree.  Instead of asking such a question for the entire world to see, why not PM him and ask him directly?

Alright, alright, I'm sorry.  I didn't think it was such a big deal.

But, I just learned that this forum software allows you to change your alias at will and back.  I've not seen this option available in other forums I frequent.  That's so cool.

Should we even care? I don't think so.
October 12th, 1985. Tonight, a comedian died in New York.

Your right,, and to add tongue in cheek to 'should we care? '  I think we should all change our names and avatars (such as Rick and others do quite often)  overnight- to other 'alias' and start the whole thing off on a clean slate.    Not!

For sale, one alias (skipnet50), comes with some baggage.

Price very negotiable.

He can call himself as he likes, I think he will always be "Skip" to me.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

You're probably familiar with the story of "Pavlov's Dog." In the early 1900's, Dr. Pavlov, a Russian Chemist and Physiologist, was studying the digestive process in dogs and the interaction between salivation and the action of the stomach. He realized that they were closely linked by reflexes in the autonomic nervous system. Without salivation, the stomach didn't get the message to start digesting. Pavlov wanted to see if external stimuli could effect this process, so he rang a bell at the same time he gave the dogs food. After a while, the dogs-which before only salivated when they saw and ate their food-would begin to salivate when the bell rang, even if no food was present. He called this a "conditioned reflex," an action that has to be learned. Pavlov called this learning process "conditioning." (He also found that if the bell rang too often and food did not appear, the conditioned reflex would become repressed. The dogs stopped salivating at the sound of the bell).
