Hey congrats!  I've got a feeling this will not be a good tax year for us.

We have "wealth" tax (on any money you don't need for the daily shopping), and I'll be getting a refund because of a loss on investments (which are taxed in advance).

Good news or bad news?

I haven't even got any of my forms yet.
I know it will be better than last year when I inherited a large sum and got killed with short-term cap gains. I have plenty cap losses this year, but no gains for them to off-set.

Filed my taxes via Turbo Tax online on the 14th, IRS started processing returns on the 16th, got my acceptance from TT/IRS on 18th, expected deposit on the 29th.

Note for any electronic filers, deposits tend to occur the 2nd Friday after it is accepted by the IRS.

Did mine online with TurboTax, and had it e-filed two days before the IRS even starts processing e-files (Jan 16 if anyone cares).  The refund is due in 5 days.

Still waiting for my 1099s to come in....just got my W-2 form Saturday.  So no filing for me just yet.  But it is certainly a big relief when it's done.

This is the first year I've actually owned a home and it really made a nice difference in my taxes.  Looks like there's a new Fender Strat in my future

Don't have my W2 yet, but I'm hoping to get enough back to have a bit of work done (I need a new back door) and go to Antietam & Fredericksburg/Spotsylvania this spring ... we'll see how it goes.

Just received confirmation from Intuit (TurboTax) that the IRS accepted my e-file Return and my refund should hit my account on or around Feb 06 . Unfortunately I probably won't see my State refund for 6-8 weeks or longer as California charges $19.95 for e-filing and I wasn't about to pay that. I've also heard that State refunds will more than likely be delayed even further due to budget contraints. They're real quick to take it but when it comes to giving it back... .

I was going to recommend going to Pamplin Historical Park in Virginia if Danae's a CW buff, but I see from an article in the Richmond Times Dispatch that Pamplin Park's cut back on hours due to the financial state of affairs.  We went last fall, and I highly recommend the program (if it's open).

My wife's and my income tax is going to pay for moving expenses. She wants her own washer and dryer. We have 3 kids and we get the earned income credit from the Federal government and one from the State of New York.  $,443.00. This year we got back more that last year.

8Ball:

I just heard this morning that there are some possible changes in 1099 Forms, in fact a lot of companies are delaying the sending out of 1099s so they don't have to do them twice. One of the area gurus (Ric Edelman, he may have commented on this on his websiet ricedelman.com) here suggested that you wait until March 1 , just to avoid possibly having to do them again if there are changes.
