I'm considering doing an update for a 4-disc set which contains 24 episodes from a long-running series. It's not a season set, but rather a "best of" set. How should I list the discs in the Disc Info area? I've looked at a few other "best of" sets and don't really see a consensus.

The episodes are not numbered in the set. Each has a title and an air date. All 4 discs have episodes on them.

The rules for TV say:
Quote:
Label each of the discs containing episodes of the series. If there is a separate disc of extras with no episodes, use the standard "Bonus Materials" description.

Option 1

Disc 1
Disc 2
Disc 3
Disc 4

Option 2

Episodes 1
Episodes 2
Episodes 3
Episodes 4

Option 3

Episodes 1-6
Episodes 7-12
Episodes 13-18
Episodes 19-24

Option 4

Episodes (Part 1)
Episodes (Part 2)
Episodes (Part 3)
Episodes (Part 4)

It would all depend on what the disc says. I have the Blu-ray disc of Heroes season two. Each disc states: Heroes: Season 2: disc One, Heroes: season 2: disc Two, Heroes: season 2: disc Three, Heroes: season 2: disc Four.

I agree with my scaly friend.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.

We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

Then that's probably what I would use.

And then you would put "Disc One", "Disc Two" and so on? How does that comply with the rules' instruction to "label each of the discs containing episodes of the series"? How have you done that by simply putting "Disc One"? James' example is a tad different because it's a "best of" set, but for 'Heroes: Season 2', I really don't feel this is allowed. Certainly for a regular 'Heroes' season set, "Episodes x-y" would be the way to go - that's simply what the rules tell us to do.

IMHO, there really is never (even for these "best of" sets) any point in just stating the disc number: that is already provided in the "#" column of the "Discs" section. There's really no need to repeat it, while there's more interesting information left to track, like that the discs contains "Episodes 13-18". So option #3 it is.

"Disc One" is what we put in the title of the profile, but not into the disc description (in the discs section).

I'D simply number them as we do with any other season disc.

Tim:
How would you give Heroes Season 2 an Episode number? Each disc does not state what episodes are on them. The back of the slip case gives only the title of the episodes and if you don't know how many episodes are in season 1 you could be using the wrong episode numbers. In this case I would go by what each disc states. This is how I have it:

Heroes: Season2
          Heroes: Disc One
                      Four Months Later
                      Lizards
                      Kindred
                      The Kindness of Strangers
          Heroes: Disc Two
                      Fight or Flight
                      The Line
                      Out of Time
                      Four Months Ago
          Heroes: DiscThree
                      Cautionary Tales
                      Truth & Consequences
          Heroes: Disc Four
                      Powerless

The rules tells you what to do if there is no episode numbers... you number them yourself counting the episodes in the set.

I could be wrong here... but I think some people are confused about what is being talked about here. We are talking about in the disc tab... not in the Title, overview or cast & Crew...

See where I circled in red...

That shows How it should be done... even for Best of releases
