Not certain if anyone else has thought of this but thought I woud share.  Have been trying for ages to get all my covers scanned in for posterity's sake and then printed in a coffee table book for visitors to peruse.  But as I add movies fairly regularly and to add the new movies was using more and more paper (trees), and ink as i like to include a cover shot, I hit on an idea to display my movies without all the fuss.

I bought a 7" digital photo frame, cropped all the covers to 800 x 600 and transferred them to a USB stick which I already had and display them as a slide show.  Now my visitors can see my movies without wasting paper and ink.,  I seperated them into folders as per genre so they don't have to plow through all of them.

Again if someone else has already presented this as an idea, sorry, but just had to share.

Finally, a practical use for digital frames.

I like it just for decorative purposes.
Bad movie?  You're soaking in it!

I agree. I'm not sure I would've thought of using a digital frame for showing covers.

Good idea.

Don't forget that many modern TVs accept a USB or memory card directly these days. They've even started to add network capabilities which allows you to access the internet and other computers in your home.

You could also burn a slide show to a re-writable DVD and view it on your player.

That is a great idea, I particularly like the idea of having my DVDProfiler collection on a USB Flash Drive or digital photoframe that I can plug into the TV and surf through to find the movie I want.

Now at risk of sounding computer iliterate, how do I take one of the coffee table list ideas and save the file onto the digital photoframe???

To test if your photo frame can support sub directories, use your computer and create a couple folders such as "Action" and "Comedy" on the flash drive.  Copy a few cover images from movies that fall into those genre and then plug in the flash drive into your photo frame and see how things show up.

Wow, what a great idea!
Are there any Wi-Fi photoframes out there?
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Yes there are.  My dad got one last year (a Kodak model) that was even happy to log into Kodak's website and access all the pictures that had been uploaded to their storage.

We did it once to prove the concept but then just accessed some pictures from his local machine.

That's what I intended. Link it to the pictures folder of my database, this would save the USB-stick.
Think I'll have to enter my local MediaMarkt tomorrow.
