| | Posted: | | | | I've encountered a few overviews like the one below recently:  I'm not entirely sure whether I should enter ANTHONY HOPKINS and BRAD PITT, or Anthony Hopkins and Brad Pitt. I can see how some would argue that these are in ALL-CAPS, but then again, I can also see why others argue that it's merely a different font, but that there's still a clearly visible difference between each first letter and the subsequent ones. I really don't have a preference, I just want to handle these consistently. So which is it? |

| | Posted: | | | | While I can see what Rho's saying & he presents a good argument, I personally disagree. Again my opinion is that for fonts such as the one used in the example, all characters count as capital letters.
That said, I'm not sure how I would vote if I saw it in a contribution.
Looking at the results they're currently split roughly 50/50, I think that we may need to get an official response on this one. |

| | Posted: | | | | As I understand rules, we should have those names all in capital letters : in the overview, there is clearly a typing difference between the role and the actor. If the actor is entered as Anthony Hopkins, we do not see anymore that difference which is intended by the guy who made the overview. As for me, I will never vote yes or no on such a futile detail, and on my local I always get rid of name actors in overviews. But this example is much more interesting on another point of view. The text is clearly aligned along the right margin, and as rules specify we have to reproduce the text exactly as written, I think we have a real problem on how to handle that (this not listed in the exceptions, so it has clearly to be reproduced...  ) | | | | Images from movies |

I have to agree with Forget on thuis on the basis, that there are clearly lower case letters involved in the remainder of the Overview, so while i understand his argument is flawed, it also appears tome that the names are in a bloder style than the rest of the overview, but it's hard to say for sure.

I would vote No against anyone trying to change one to the other unless there were some other contribution of value since this would not be a contribution of significant value. It certainly isn't defined in the rules... and what is significant is different to each person. I know to me personally as long as it is a correct addition... or even correction (as long as it is correct) it adds significant value... no matter the size of the update. So in my eyes at least even if someone took a profile such as this one.. and made the names all caps only... in my opinion that would be adding significant value. | | | | Pete |

| | Posted: | | | | So far I've always entered them as caps. That's what I see so that's what I enter. That the first letter is larger is, in my opinion, irrelevant. For me that doesn't make the other letters lowercase.
Obviously I'll follow whatever decision is made, but in this case, unlike T!M, I do have a (practical)preference. Attention is meant to be called to the names and by not using uppercase they don't stand out as was probably intended.
And seeing how the poll is going so far (at the moment 29/25) it would definitely help if we could get an official view on the matter. There must be quite a few of these cases out there, I've come across 2 myself, just in the last few days. | | | | Last edited: by Mallrat |
