Even when I lock down studios from already audited titles, they change without rhyme or reason in my local. For instance, after doing the Friday the 13th films, all my From Dusk Dawn changed A Band Apart to Terror Inc., while being locked.
Now today I'm about to start War of the Roses, and instead of 20th Century Fox, it says Fangoria!
Is this a known bug? Anyone else have this problem? How can it be stopped if locking doesn't work?

Please check if "20th Century Fox" still is available in your studio list. Possibly you overwrote the entry when trying to establish a new one.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

had the same problem the other day with Young Frankenstein., Have always had this title mostly locked off,, I probably  got some updates , to this title  along the way., and  when I went to add an MC to the Mel Brooks Young Frankenstein,, there were two odd studios in the list, and was immediately put on the carpet for these fictitious studios., I had to manually go in and remove them all and add then add 20th  Century Fox to the list to get the (originally)  MC added ..

I had this problem with 'Harold Productions'.  For some reason, it was showing up in a bunch of profiles and I know I didn't put it there.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

This also happened to me back when we went from Intervocative to Invelos.  For some reason, Coast Mountain (Films) started showing up in a number of profiles where it didn't belong.  I haven't noticed this in a long while, but every so often I'll open a profile that I haven't looked at in a while and find that Coast Mountain has somehow gotten into it.

If it's a bug, it's one that's been around awhile.

Another one who had it happen once; lots of TV (can't remember which studio) got Malpaso Pictures, and could not be fixed by a 'repair'- I thought it was me accidentally replacing rather than adding a Studio (it is easy to do) but now I wonder!

The Studios field has been buggy for years. Some of them were fixed, but apparently not all.

Upon further review, I think this is what happened. As I went to add new studios for all the more obscure stuff, I was overwriting old entries. Makes sense why 20th and A Band Apart would be affected and never Warner Bros.
I didn't realize that just entering a new name was killing an old one, then turning the old ones to whatever they were overwritten as. Just have to remember to hit that "add" button from now on, then clean everything up, and hope that's the only thing. That seemed to work for the last audit.

Bottom line: If you don't click "add" when enetering a new studio to the list, it overwrites whatever is displayed at the time and changes it. The "add" button is the fix!

Round of applause for good sleuthing ... This kind of bug can drive a programmer nuts. Not sure what the best way of documenting your findings to Ken, but I'm sure he would love to fix something that reduces database errors. Once again, good job!

I remember it being reported to Ken. It isn't a bug as such, just a non-intuitive design choice.

I made the mistake  (of not clicking the Add button first before entering a new studio) a few times myself before it became ingrained. The main problem is that if you start typing a studio name, the list jumps to the place where your input sorts in the studio list alphabetically. Thus you get the impression you already have added something when in fact the entry you are currently overwriting just gets moved around.

Fortunately, my SourceSafe plugin detects unwanted changes caused by side effects such as messing with the studio list.

Yep, I used to do that quite often and was simply overwriting old studios instead of actually adding new ones. I haven't noticed any studio oddities since discovering that long ago.
