| Posted: | | | | First, let me say that I know jack about fashion. I was doing credits for Daughters of Darkness ( Les lèvres rouges), and came across these credits. I know that at least 'Miss Ouiment's Wardrobe' is a valid credit, but I'm not sure if these credits are for individuals (who would be listed) or for companies (whom I believe would not) because they are all single names. So if anyone could enlighten me as to whether I should list these credits for Costume Designer, I thank you for your help. Quote: miss ouimet's wardrobe by - cinelli - malborough - van gelder
furs by - benoit
shoes by - lautrec | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -- Thorin Oakenshield |

| Posted: | | | | They sound like company, or designer brand, credits...similar to what is done for award shows. It is hard because we don't recognize the names. If it was something like...
miss ouimet's wardrobe by Calvin Klein furs by Gucci shoes by Louboutin
...would you enter them as constume designer? I don't know that I would. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | Since we only credit persons (at least if nothing has changed lately), these are not to be included, they are clearly company credits (brand names). BTW I wouldn't even enter CALVIN KLEIN (at least if the name is completely in upper case) for the same reason, until someone proves that Mr. Klein himself designed (or at least chose) the wardrobe in question. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

| Posted: | | | | Thank you, everyone! I wasn't sure if they were company names, though they sure looked like it. But I wanted to make sure, since there are folks who do have just single names. | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -- Thorin Oakenshield |

| Posted: | | | | There are a lot of costume designers, especially in older films, who went by a single name. I'd research it further, if possible before deciding that a single name means a company rather than a person.
But since Daughters of Darkness looks like it already has a Costume Designer credit, then it may be a safer assumption. | | | "This movie has warped my fragile little mind." | | | Last edited: by gardibolt |

I think I know what you are thinking of, goblins. But if the entire credit listing is made up of All Caps, and CALVIN KLEIN is used then there is no distinction from the rest of the creds, unless perhaps they use a different size font or font style. The other costume credit is "Miss Seyrig's gowns by" which goes under Costume Designer here, but is not "Costume Designer" on screen. | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -- Thorin Oakenshield |

That, to me, is the same as Wardrobe by, so I probably wouldn't enter it either. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. Wardrobe [by] is in the list of accepted roles, so is Gowns [by]: Costume Designer Costumes [by], Costume Supervisor, Gowns [by], Wardrobe [by], Wardrobe Designer, Wardrobe Supervisor | | | Cor |

| Posted: | | | | Yes, exactly. Since I knew 'Gowns By' and 'Wardrobe By' were listed in the crew chart, I knew they were to be entered, I'm simply not sure if the single names are people or companies. | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -- Thorin Oakenshield |

| Posted: | | | | The best way is to extensively search on the net whether it's a company name or a person and in a case that it could be both (like Calvin Klein) you have to do some research whether the person him/herself was involved or his/her label/company. | | | Cor |

Costume Designer Costumes [by], Costume Supervisor, Gowns [by], Wardrobe [by], Wardrobe Designer, Wardrobe Supervisor You are, of course, correct. Once again, I forgot to look before I typed.
