I currently have this actor listed three different ways in my local.

Jonathan/Rhys/Meyers
Jonathan//Rhys Meyers
Jonathan//Rhys-Meyers

I'd like to get them all sorted out.

Both IMDB and wikipedia constantly refer to the actor as Rhys Meyers in their bios (however, since those are written generally by the general public, they can be considered up in the air).

His actual birthname is Jonathan Michael Francis O'Keefe, and he changed his name when he took up acting and used his mother's maiden name of Meyers (no mention of Rhys).

I haven't been able to find any article specifically stating that Rhys is part of his last name as well, but... I was able to find:

Variety has at least two articles that refer to him as Rhys Meyers:

http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118000282.html?categoryid=3555&cs=1 (last paragraph)
http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117981448.html?categoryid=13&cs=1

and at least one film I own, I can confirm that he's listed in the credits as Jonathan Rhys-Meyers (Prozac Nation as Noah).

Would IMDB, wikipedia, the two variety articles and at least one confirmed listing of Jonathan Rhys-Meyers be enough evidence to support a parsing of Jonathan//Rhys Meyers?
The night is calling. And it whispers to me soflty come and play.

Personally, I would say yes.

In the credits his assistants usually get adressed as "Assistant to Mr. Rhys Meyers" (e.g. "Velvet Goldmine", "August Rush").

So I'd opt for Jonathan // Rhys Meyers.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Thanks for checking that.

That was my next credit to check, but I wasn't sure which films I owned with him in it that he would actually have an assistant for, so I hadn't had a chance to get around to it yet.

Looks like there's some pretty solid evidence towards Jonathan//Rhys Meyers, so I've already contributed a couple of corrections.

A parsing thread that didn't go crazy? Who woulda thunk it?

Likewise, I've submitted a change for the 1 profile in my collection that had him parsed 1/2/3.

It's great to see people doing what they can.

I've got three more profiles to submit the change to as well (was going to do full audits on them later tonight since they could use some extra updates as well).

You guys rock!

Crazy... yet awesome, ain't it?

In the time span of a few hours, at least 17 profiles have been submitted for correction. That's pretty damn amazing in my books!

Big thumbs up and greens to everyone for their help and contributions!!

Don't worry, before I start, I'm not going to disagree with the parsing ( ), but one thing worries me.

I may have this wrong, but I already have it parsed as //Rhys Meyers in my database, with the 3.6 changes meaning that I get to keep my parsing regardless of the online version (do I have that right?). How will I know which of my profiles need correcting in the online?

You could always just press submit to online and if it shows up as a change, confirm the submission. I can't think of an easier way?
