I have been voting no on repeated attempts to modify an existing profile, with the following situation.

The profile concerns a movie with a bonus disc (the latter is actually irrelevant to the discussion). The package is a keep case with a slip cover, with a EAN/UPC.
The keep case has its own (different) EAN/UPC, and that profile is in the database also.

A contirbutor is now arguing that the second profile should be attached as a child profile to the first profile. In my opinion that would be like creating an entry for a slip case, and I think a checkbox is sufficient for that purpose. We just have two independent releases, with (almost) identical data.

What makes this worse is that if it is accepted, then according to the rules the parent profile should be emptied. So you get a parent profile that is just for the slip case.

Contributor's argument is that information is lost if the child profile's EAN/UPC is not included.

What do you think?

The rules clearly state that
Quote:
"The term "Box Set" is used to define any release that includes more than one film."

So it shouldn't be included as a child profile.

I have seen this been done with some box sets (not Profiler "box sets" but special editions that contains a previously or separately released inner packaging of some kind) but in all those cases the parent profile retains all info.

Normally you are right to vote no though, as I believe all those have been entered outside of the rules.

This sounds similar to the situation I remember with the Lord of the Rings films where a limited edition came out with the regular edition and a statue both inside a box. Some people created a profile for the limited edition and then added the regular edition as a child profile. Just like a bonus film situation both profiles contained the film info so it wouldn't matter if you added the child profile or not.

I would accept what the person is doing here only if it's a situation like that and the full info remains on the parent profile.

The only difference here is the slip cover. I don't even know if the keep case without slip cover has actually been released separately, or maybe that will happen in the future if the slip covers run out.

In that case, it's a definite no. Apologies, I couldn't picture it from your first description

I don't see the problem with adding that profile as a child profile as long as everything is also stored in the parent profile. (I use that setup locally for a number of movies. Reservoir Dogs: Mr. Blonde: Special Edition comes to mind)

Same note

I bought Lord of the rings Blue ray set (794043131622)  This has 2 HD cases inside One has upc (794043131820) and actually contains the three movies on BD, the other keep case has no upc and contains the Digital Copies.  When I entered it, it was a boxset within a boxset, but the only 1 that has movies is the inner upc.

What say you...

Digital Copies are Features, not something we track on an individual basis. So tjhis as you are describing as follows

LOTR Box
    LOtR Set
              Movies

Youer description makes the grandparent sound like it is a limited release and the Parent will be subsequently re-released at a lower price once the supply of Grandparent Covers is exhausted

Lord of the rings box  <---UPC
Lord of the ring set  <---UPC
          Movies
Lord of the rings DC set <---no UPC
        Digital  Copies

I left out the Digital Copies, Charlie because they are not applicable, I don't think, they have no Disc ID and no UPC, no way to capture them except in the Features section.

Wait a minute now i am confused, there is one title or more than one. If only one title the Tim is absolutely correct.
