| Posted: | | | | Do we place character names all in one field? ex: Donald Duck as himself. Is it Donald Duck/ (all one field) or Donald/Duck (first and last name fields).
Thanks! | | | Lori |

That certainly seems to be the logical way to handle it. It would be nice, though, if the rules clarified this. As it is, I don't think one can say that either way is clearly against the rules. | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. Gunnar |

They even put it separate from voice only... saying (without going back to the rules to look) something like.... All animation and voice only roles. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | If they (McCarthy and Snerd) were live-action i don't believe they would get a voice check box since they didn't speak (Candace Bergen's dad did that).
The others certainly would get the voice checkbox. | | | Bad movie? You're soaking in it! |

| Posted: | | | | I always took the voice tick to mean the live person who voiced the character, or in this case, dummies and animated characters. If I have it wrong, please let me know, so I can adjust my thinking. Back on topic: As long as a search for Donald Duck finds Donald Duck/ and Donald/Duck, I don't care either way. If it does not, then for consistency sake, I hope Ken picks one and amends the rules to reflect his decision. My vote would be for all one field to cover every possibility. | | | Marty - Registered July 10, 2004, User since 2002. |

I guess it depends on whether we actually KNOW who provided the voice. If we don't, we're stuck with "Donald Duck" as "Himself". If we do know who provided the voice - let's say it's Joe Smith, indeed - then it's: "Joe Smith [Donald Duck]" - Himself. This is in line with Ken's ruling (last post on the page) here. |

| Posted: | | | | As I am the one who made the contribution, all I did was fix the fictional characters into the first field (as is done with stage names and other fictional characters, like "Jabba the Hutt"). The credits might say something completely different, but I was only correcting the existing profile since I noticed a Mickey//Mouse credit and a Mickey Mouse// credit in my cast database. Quote: If they (McCarthy and Snerd) were live-action i don't believe they would get a voice check box since they didn't speak (Candace Bergen's dad did that). Edgar Bergen was the first credited name in the profile. There are other actors credited with voices or as themselves. |

| Posted: | | | | What I would have entered:
Ed Bergen credited as Charlie McCarthy as Itself (puppeteer) Ed Bergen credited as Mortimer Snerd as Itself (puppeteer) Clarence Nash credited as Donald Duck as Himself (voice) James MacDonald (1906) credited Mickey Mouse as Himself (voice) Cliff Edwards credited as Jiminy Cricket as Himself (voice)
If you decide to not use the credited as feature, I would have used the first and last name field. I don't care if they are fictional or not. The names are the characters first and last name and should be in the appropriate fields in my opinion. If not, why are we entering John//Wayne and not John Wayne//. After all, that is a stage name
The comparison with Jabba the Hut is not the same, in my opinion, since 'the Hut' isn't a last name | | | The colour of her eyes, were the colour of insanity | | | Last edited: by reybr |

| Posted: | | | | This is the profile I was wondering about. I've never seen a change in this way before and was unsure about what was correct. I have no preference either way, though, like reybr, to me, the characters have first and last names so would enter them into both fields. I could see it as one field using the credited as feature. To me, stage names are like Queen Latifah, where there isn't a traditional first/last name set up. | | | Lori |
