| Posted: | | | | As per rules:
Enter the year of the original theatrical release. For films that have been updated (e.g., a Special Edition or Directors Cut) use the year of the original release, not the year that the re-release was “made” or released.
This films theatrical release was 1999, but it also has a TV premiere in 1998.

| Posted: | | | | If it premiered on TV in 1998 that is the release year. That is what the Oscar committee would use to disqualify it if it were Oscar-worthy (haven't seen it myself). | | | Bad movie? You're soaking in it! |

| Posted: | | | | The use of the word 'theatrical' is unfortunate as it ignores everything television. I think I will agree with tweeter. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom. Yeah, it should just be changed to "first public display" or "first public availability". First showing is too broad as I don't think test screenings should count, and theatrical misses too many. |

| Posted: | | | | I think part of the problem that the name hasn't been changed yet... is what to change it to? Theatrical Release don't exactly work as it wouldn't be quite right for...
- TV Series releases - TV Movies releases - Direct to Video releases.
And if you combine those three things... I am sure it would equal out to at least as many if not more theatrical release that are out there. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | Seconded! I have been asking for a name change for a long time (much like Total DVD's in the Collection list should be changed to Total Profiles). |

| Posted: | | | | While it definitely would be better then we have now... I would be afraid that people would get that confused with Release date (of the DVD). Especially if English isn't their first language. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | Hm, there is that. You do have a point, Pete. Reminds me of all those users who confuse Locality with CoO.
Perhaps the best would be to rename both fields, e.g. Feature Release Year and DVD Release Date, respectively. BTW in the "Edit Profile" window, the latter is already called "DVD Release". |
