| Posted: | | | | Mostly (probably 95%) online from Amazon and Barnes & Noble, but sometimes from Buy.com, Deep Discount and a few others.
I rarely buy things in stores these days, unless it's a really good deal or an exclusive release. | | | Corey |

| Posted: | | | | I work at a shop that sells used DVDs, blu-rays, etc ... so I get 99% of my collection from my shop.
A quick look at my statistics turns up this:
3400 = Book and Music Exchange 323 = Big Lots 228 = Suncoast 202 = Borders 181 = Ear X-Tacy 122 = Half Price Books 65 = Amazon
It's a bit skewed because I've been making child (& grandchild) manual profiles for all my multiple-movies-on-a-single-disc, but the proportions are generally correct. | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -- Thorin Oakenshield |

Thanks! I have found Prime membership to be a good deal. Free shipping and very fast, at least here in NY, USA. I have even gotten 2-day items in 1 day. Not usually, but every now and then. I also get free access to a selected streaming move database, which I actually use very little. The free shipping saves me a ton ... and on pre-orders, you get money refunded if the price drops before shipment. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Here is CA its ONTRAC and they are anything BUT "On"TRAC. They are the worst delivery service on planet Earth...at least here in California. They're completely unreliable, late delivery, packages damaged, etc, etc, etc. I have most of my orders delivered to my office at work and, no matter how many times I tell ONTRAC Corporate that this is a business address which closes at 5:00pm PST, they continue to attempt delivery after business hours which means my packages won't get delivered until the following day. Once, when I expected a package to be delivered and it was already after 5:00pm, just for $hits-and-giggles I waited outside and watched them arrive at my office building at 6:10pm and not even get out of the freaking van, drive off, and when I checked my Order Status on Amazon, the status showed Attempted Delivery at 5:00pm. I emailed Amazon about it and got a refund on the shipping charges but ONTRAC continues with their same old lousy service. | | | My WebGenDVD online Collection |

I have also received some from USPS and Prestige (which I believe is a local service). Most of the time things are delivered in 2 days as promised. But, there have been enough that are delayed that I sometimes wonder if paying the extra for Prime is worth it. As far as the original poster's question: I love Big Lots if one doesn't mind waiting for things to go on sale there. Several times a year they have sales and I get blockbuster movies for $1 or $2 dollars and a season of a TV show for $3. I always check amazon.com daily for their gold box and daily deals. They also have amazing deal on Black Friday and around the holidays. Pawn shops and second hand stores in Buffalo are fantastic. I've picked up sealed BluRay discs for $2. Be very careful and check every disc though - sometimes they are perfect and other times badly scratched. I also check out ebay and if there is a DVD lot I might throw i a low bid just for the heck of it. I've gotten many DVDs for less than a half a buck each. I've been lucky with ebay - most are in great condition. Rarely a DVD is scratched but for that price the case alone is worth it! Finally, I am a member of the Disney club. I know I pay too much for them at times but...it's Disney! Edit: I almost forgot...I've gotten quite a few DVDs from the invelos trading post. The members here have given me excellent quality DVDs at a resonible price with very fast delivery. | | | Last edited: by Kathy |

Thanks! With Amazon UK you get free shipping to most European countries (+ Australia, NZ, India and SA) for orders totalling £25 or more. There are costs involved with transatlantic shipping, e.g. Amazon US shipping & handling costs (to Finland, but probably the same to most of Europe) are $6.48 for the first item and $2.49 for each additional item. Thus, S/H for, e.g., five Blu-ray movies would be $16.44. Can't say that shipments from Amazon (US) or Amazon UK would take a long time to arrive - that has never been a concern for me. But I'm biased, as I'm never in a hurry to get my purchases |

Like Kathy, all my stuff has come by UPS or USPS. The shipment, that shipped today, is with ONTRAC. I had never heard of them until now. I hope my experience is better than what you have described. Basic forumla: If the country has a local Amazon site, there will be always shipping cost. Unfortunately this is the case with Amazon.de - otherwise I would buy a lot more at Amazon.co.uk. My favorite purchase places are: - Amazon.de - Amazon.co.uk - Amazon.com Always excellent service and fast shipping: I have Prime for Amazon.de and most purchases arrive within two business days. Amazon.co.uk takes two to four business days (in some cases I got purchases on the next day; Shipments will be handled through Amazon.de, so I guess the article was already in stock at Amazon Germany). Amazon.com is the slowest and can take up to 1 month (especially during November and December). I also buy media at Play.com, Zavvi.com and TheHut.com. All three stores are an alternative to Amazon.co.uk and are sometimes cheaper, however shipping takes more time. |
