| Posted: | | | | I have the Blu-Ray version which contains three discs, only the first two will be of any concern to Golden Age fans. Both have two dozen plus episodes.
I had intended on buying the DVD version thinking that cartoons from the 50's can't look much better in 1080. But they did a rather good restoration. I upgraded all the 480p copies to 1080p. |

| Posted: | | | | Does anyone know what is missing from the new Blu-ray sets compared to the Golden Collection sets or are the shorts listed so completely different that we have an "apple to oranges" scenario? I have the entire Golden Collection on DVD and thought it comprehensive and very well done. I wish Warners had seen fit to duplicate that approach. With what is released now on BD there is no real way to know if what they are planning to release will be at least as inclusive as the DVD sets or not. |

| Posted: | | | | From what I understand, a few of the cartoons on the Golden series were TV edited. The Platinum series will have no editing for any reason. These are the best possible restored versions of the cartoons, racist and other offensive moments and all the warts intact. | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

| Posted: | | | | Personally, I wish Warners would use the Walt Disney Treasury approach... sets with the first Bugs Bunny cartoons, then continue until every Bugs short was in the full set. Same with Daffy Duck, Tweety and Sylvester, Marvin Martian, etc. Just like Disney did with the B&W then color Mickey Mouse cartoons, the Donald Duck ones, Goofy, Pluto, etc. These random mixings may sell better (and that's why they do it this way) but it makes watching a character grow more difficult to view. | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

| Posted: | | | | Another option would be for Warner to release their cartoons in chronological order. This would enable them to still have a mix. If they went the Disney Treasures route, they'd be sure to be limited editions, and thereby be very hard for some collectors to get all the cartoons they want. I still need the Goofy set and the last 2 Donald sets in the Treasures sets and they're stupidly expensive. Of course, a chronological approach would likely still be limited, because you'd have all those b&w cartoons first... | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -- Thorin Oakenshield | | | Last edited: by Danae Cassandra |

| Posted: | | | | I may have a chronological list of Bugs Bunny cartoons in a database somewhere from a check list I made many a winter ago. I'm a data pack-rat and tend to keep things forever. I'll dig around.
I know there's a LOT of Bugs Bunny cartoons put out. The Cartoon Network did a "June Bugs" event where they aired every Bugs Bunny cartoon non-stop in alphabetical order. Took all weekend. Recorded them on VHS but didn't like the quality of the resulting ELP tapes and the digitizing process. Did take six tapes though. |

Of these, 4 were cameo appearences, and 4 were of a prototype Bugs, before he got his name and voice. So, I'd say there are 169 Bugs Bunny cartoons. He also appears in 10 cartoons made after 1979 |

There were no edits in the golden collections. Sorry... a number of those in the Golden Collections were the aap rereleases, not the originals, and at least one disc in volume 2 is digital artifact filled (and can be replaced) and other cartoons in the first few volumes are not beautiful digital reproductions. The Platinum cartoons seem much better. Volume 3 of the Golden collections started allowing unedited stuff with a explanation by Whoopie Goldberg. I would still prefer a more library/collector approach... (and the Goofy and last two Donald sets were the same price as the others, had you bought them when they were new, Danae Cassandra). | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

| Posted: | | | | Let me state this... Where is a single disc Marvin Martian collection? There were two separate VHS tapes which contained all the (then) MM cartoons, but they were in random order. Given the huge amount of Marvin merchandise WB sold, I would think they could see a good sale of a Marvin Martian DVD or Blu-ray disc.
I'd buy it. In addition to all my Golden collections and my Platinum Blu-ray. One character, every cartoon, chronologically. | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

I know, but they were such limited editions that by the time I was aware ... already sold out. The last Donald was nearly left out of production. Disney was going to kill the Treasures sets when the sales of the next to last Donald set were miserable. Only a letter-writing campaign saved the series for the last couple of years (and the final series were reprints of the two seasons of the Zorro show, previously available only through the Disney Movie Club -- and then only in the colorized versions!) | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

| Posted: | | | | Updated the thread name to be more general to Looney Tunes.
Checked my databases, no record of the full Bugs Bunny short list.
Picked up The Essential Daffy Duck, the following shorts were not on any previous Spotlight/Golden/Platinum collection - not worth it for Golden Age collectors.
Attack of the Drones Daffy Duck for President Porky's Duck Hunt The Duxorcist The Night of the Living Duck |
