I'm currently auditing the film "O". We first get a regular cast list, we then get a ton of crew and then we get a separate section called basketball players with a list of everyone who was this role in the movie. Should they still be listed even though they are in a secondary list and play a women's sport?

For me: Yes
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Sure.

How exactly is basketball a "women's" sport?

According to Sam, for something to be a sport men have to flop onto the ground, cry like little girls after barely being touched.

I would say valid too. We often include 'dancers' who are credited in the same fashion.

If it's seen in the movie, include the credit.

Thanks all.

As a side note, the sport of men is rugby.

Here I have to disagree with everyone. The filmmakers create something called cast, this list has a beginning and end. How people think that they can decipher data not included in that cast list Ss suddenly being cast after the data is thrown somewhere else is more than I can understand. Gaffers then should be cast, in fact you could call almost everyone cast how do you know. What special knowledge do you have, I have been dealing with credits for the better part of 30 years and there is no logic here, rationalization...yes plenty of that, logic zero. Sorry

So we can add uncredited data.... with verification.  But they are on the screen, and listed by name, and acting in a film but they shouldn't be listed in the cast?

Oh and Sam, please don't post these types of questions in this forum.  The rule is very clear on this already.  Thanks!

Here is the relevant part of the credit rules:

"For the purposes of this section we define "standard" film credits as those where all credited actors involved are listed at the end of the film - defined here as the "end credits". The section details both the actor’s Name and the Role that they played in the film. The credits may be listed "in order of appearance", "alphabetical order" or in an order of importance decided by the filmmakers."

These Cast are listed at the end of the film. There is nothing in the rules that specify they must be grouped together.

In fact, the rules tells us that the filmmakers can decide where, and in what order, to place these credits.

Double
You are missing the point, read what I said very carefully. A cast list on screen has abeginning and an end. If after those credits run, they then begin tthe Cree  credits.how do you know that these are cast, they are in the crew data, how do you discriminate that they are what they are not. If they  were cast would they not appear in the area of cast. By what I see being said, essentially all crew are cast because they are listed after the cast list. I don't see any logic, please someone explain it because I see simply a desire to do something that has no basis.

I am sorry, but this simply is not true.  Filmakers create something called credits.  Sometimes, these credits will have a section with a header of 'Cast', sometimes not.  I don't know whether or not this is one of those times, but it really doesn't matter...I will attempt to explain, though I am not sure how much good it will do.

Lets start with the basics:
CAST noun: the set of actors in a production
ACTOR noun: one who represents a character in a production

Based on those definitions, anyone who played a character in the film is considered cast.

Per our rules, if a film has standard credits...those where all credited actors involved are listed at the end of the film...we copy them only from that list.  If however, all credited actors involved are not included in that list, then we can take them from the parts of the credits they are listed.

So this comes down to two simple questions...are these people actors and are they credited.  I don't have this movie so can't answer those questions but, based on the information provided, it would seem the answers would be yes.

Now come on, Kathy, you are stretching for that one. Like I said if what you say is correct anyone listed after cast is cast, accountants, caterer, gaffers and all other data.
