| | Posted: | | | | I will be getting my new laptop today (this afternoon) which means hours of installations and data transfer...so with any luck I will be back up and running sometime tomorrow....but you know how that goes...if the "Computer Gods" are not on my side I could be down longer. |

The mouse pad on my laptop stopped working a few months ago. So I hooked up a USB mouse to it. Win 8 is very easy to use with mouse and keyboard and it acts almost the same as Win 7. For example is you want to open a start menu in Windows 7 you eather click the Start icon or press Windows key. Exactly the same way as in Win8.1. The only difference is that the Start menu look a bit different. There are couple of new key combos that makes using Win8/8.1 much easier. Win + C Win + I Win + X That's about the all you should learn. |

| | Posted: | | | | All I'm saying that it's a horrible fuzz about different looking Start Menu and under all that crap people seem to forget that it's quite a good OS. At least better than any other OS that I know.
The only thing that bugs me a bit in these "new generation" OS' is that they removed the Start Menu button from Windows Server 2012. Don't get me wrong, I don't miss the old Start Menu, but I miss the button. Server OS' are often under several virtualization layers where keyboard shortcuts doesn't traverse through as wanted. Sometimes trying to point bottom left corner with a mouse through several virtualization layers is a PITA. I hope they brought the Start Menu icon back in Windows Server 2012 R2 as they did in Win 8.1. Latter doesn't IMHO need it, but the server version does. |
