What I would like to know is the best 4K films (or PS4 games) that I should add to my collection to really show off what 4K can do.. wanting to make a shopping list.

Thanks in advance!

Also a question... does 4K disc not usually have bonus features? Not that it is all that important... but was curious.

Hope you rest up after working (put your feet up and relax), and enjoy catching up on movies / tv.

As to 4k, the best that has been produced so far is Mortal Engines. Reference quality.
Actually go to Bluray.com and their reviews are pretty good indications of things.

My 4K collection is there under

Of the approximately 50 or so UHDs I own, only a couple have bonus features on the actual UHD disc. That being said, they all include a blu-ray copy as well, which does include the usual bonus features. So basically, you're not usually missing out on any thing (bonus feature wise) when you get the UHD

Yeah... it really isn't any big deal... Blu-rays and DVDs just spoiled me a little.

I've decided to stay away from 4k  for a few reasons .. One of the reasons being is the streaming rate for 4k ( i.e. Netflicks) would eat up a lot of of my 1 TB  streaming..

other reasons  is at my age to start building yet another library of  DVD formats..

I mean after  Beta/ VHS/ Laser Disc/ DVD/ Blue Ray ..    I am happy with 1080p

I'd assume that any USB drive housing would be sufficient if you can find cables to connect the drive to the housing.

In theory.

I haven't jumped on the 4K bandwagon just yet, but I did just buy my first 4K title: Gemini Man. Given that my TV is aging (a 10 year old Vizio former floor model with severe screen burn), it's inevitable that I will be buying a new 4K TV in the near future. And, since my son already has his Xbox One connected to the TV, that will give me a 4K player. I got to see Gemini Man in the theater at 60fps and it was quite impressive, visually. Once I get my new TV, I should be able to replicate that theater experience with this movie.

For those who use Handbrake, here's my 4K HDR profile. It was optimized using Gemini Man to maintain a good visual quality comparable with the original. Source was 70.1MB, result 18.8MB.

4K recordings understandably take a considerable amount of time to process. I believe Gemini Man was roughly 23 hours using on a VM utilizing half of a Threadripper 2990WX (primary numa nodes). Others have processed faster, Gemini Man has roughly 2.5x the amount of data to crunch at 60fps vs 24fps.

One thing to note about HDR titles, make sure your TV supports HDR or your player can remove HDR (if that's a thing). Otherwise, you'll get a washed out look.

4K UHD discs provide improved resolution, but it is only more noticeable on large screens ( > 65 inches). However, the biggest wow factor comes from the expansion in the colour spectrum and contrast range from High Dynamic Range (HDR or Dolby Vision).

If I was Addicted2DVD, I would be focussing on the hardware upgrade path first.  Don't do this right then you will be disappointed, no matter what title you buy.

Is the requirement to watch 4K UHD discs and 4K games on a 4K TV (LCD/OLED, with HDR10 and Dolby Vision support) via a games console (such as Sony's upcoming PS5) OR from a computer connected to a 4K computer monitor (with HDR support)?

OK, so it's a game console connected to a TV solution that will be upgraded.  Unfortunately, you won't be able to add 4K Disc IDs in DVD Profiler with that setup.
