Of course you're the victim, here, Ski. You insult more than half the population of the USA, someone objects, pointing out your insult, and you become the victim.

I quit.
If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

Fine, Cliff.

So it is ok for YOU to insult half the population? I am not claiming victimhood, that is not in keeping with anything I believe. I expressed my opinion, nothing more and your response was to behave like a jack-booted thug, claim that you were personally insulted and take direct steps intended to shut me up. Twas not I claiming victimhood, sir, though with the record of the Democrats, I truly do understand the response...only two well. Need I remind you sir, that it was Democrats who, in the 1865, created the KKK in a direct attempt to reclaim the South for the party, thatit was the Democrats who brought the US the wonderful Jim Crowe laws, that it was the Democrats who absolutely refused to support the Civil Rights Act of 1964 that so angered some in your party that they abandoned the party over it, that it was the Democrats under the leadership of one Lyndon Baines Johnson who installed a welfare system under the guise of the War on Poverty to create a specific group of people who would then become economically dependent upon the government, not just for a few months or weeks, or even years, but in many cases for GENERATIONS.

Have you ever watched the debates broadcast on C-Span every four years going back to Kennedy-Nixon, do you not find it striking that the Democrats always say the sme things every four years, Social Security is broken, Health Care is broken, etc. Its the same thing every four years, yet they never truly try and correct the things that say are broken, they want to talk about the issue, they don't want to fix it. Should we talk about the damage done to our Education system, done by President Jummy Carter (for whom I voted), because of his creation of a much expanded Dept. of Education as payback to the NEA for their support in 1976. I could go on and on. I could even make some very harsh comments relative to the Republican Party, they have made numerous errors. I am a registered Republican but i will not blindly defend them, when they are wrong, they are wrong, which lately has been all too often.

The difference, Cliff is that you are free to speak your mind, I may disagree with you and if I feel like it I may engage you in discussion, but I would NEVER make comments that you could be personally offensive nor make any attempt to gag you. You have done both and those actions are so taken simply on their own face are so anti-American as to be completely foreign and abhorrent to me. 'Nuff said.

Peace...out!

If democrat is such a bad word, why is www.democrats.org the URL to the Democratic Party?
If it is so bad to be a democrat, why is the Republican Party affiliated with the International Democrat Union?

I just visited the home pages of both parties now for the first time in years. It's pretty discusting how both of them appear to use more front page space on smearing the opposition instead of telling what they can do better. Yikes.

Yes, I often wonder why a lot of people in America like to point the finger and sue everyone they feel they are offended by. I really think this is a nasty and somewhat childish attitude. Magnifying others mistakes only assumes you are infallable but does not nessesarily make it so.

It's the difference between nouns and adjectives. The noun is Democrat, the adjective is Democratic. So it's the Democratic Party, but it's members are called Democrats.

@Cliff,
I think Darxon's right - it certainly smacks of political bickering. The Republicans use it because they know it needles Democrats. The moment you stop allowing it to upset you, it loses it's power. You could even turn it against them by saying they can't help it because of their poor education!

So....now I am not even allowed to express my displeasure if I am insulted or find something said to be absolutely outrageous. Somehow I am not surprised. Disappointed, but not at all surprised.

Sure, you're allowed to express your displeasure. But if someone claims that your use of a particular word insults them, and you turn around and use that exact word in your defense, then don't be surprised if they take further offense.

VibroCount pointed out that the use of the term "democrat party" was insulting to him, and instead of stopping to use the term you use it further in your reply.

Sure, I can see why you you might consider his objections unreasonable. But that's no reason to continue using the term. Considering he's pointed out that it's insulting, you must know how he'll take the continued use of the term.

So why use it? What possible reason could you have for provoking him that way?

If he insulted you too, you definitely should call him on it. I just don't see the point in reusing the offensive term when you do so. You can get your point across just as well by simply referring to the party as the "democratic party."

I don't mean this as an attack in any way. I'm just trying to explain why someone might've taken further offense to your post defending yourself.

I was going to suggest that the Democrats missed an opportunity - they could have siggested that the reason Bush used the Democrat word (instead of Democratic) in his speech was because he isn't very good at reading.

The Republicans could reply to that to stop beating about the bush!

No, I won't say that,Enry. But I will say this, it was the Democrats who started the drumbeat about The President's intelligence level with all kinds of comments about him being dumb, and idiot, etc. this drumbeat was picked up by the Europeans. So the Democrats believe him to be an idiot or worse....hmmmm....he has out maneuvered the Democrats at EVERY turn, they have yet to score a single victory against him in any way, so if he is an idiot what does that say about those that are trying to beat him and CAN'T. I laugh EVERYTIME I hear such references, and I will admit that being a patriotic American I cahfea bit when such slanderous and disrespectful comments are flung around by those from the International Community. Have I or anyone else g=here flung any kind of insulting remarks at President Sarkosi(spelling?) or the current occupant of #10 Downing Street, if they have I haven't seen it. To me such comments from theose who claim to be sooooo tolerant in this forum are but another sign of European and elsewhere jealousy of the United States.

Cliff - your little dig in this made me roar. "You insult more than half the population..." ie there are more than 50% democrats.

I recently saw something on television I found interesting; which nation is the happiest? A variety of attributes (social, economic, political, health  etc.) were assessed and the results tabulated. The country that was rated number one? Denmark!

For the record, I am not jealous of the United States or its citizens - and I can't think why most Europeans would be?

And please call Brown an idiot - he is. Tony Blair - just a sleazy puppet. No better on the other side of the house, House of Commons is basically filled with either snooty sleazy ex-public schoolboys or do-gooder PC correct lefties afraid of their own shadows.

As for Bush, after viewing his reaction to the Twin Towers in that classroom, and the huge amount of blunders that he has made talking publically, his dreadful business history before politics etc etc , I'm afraid he is being judged as seen IMO

Richie:

I am not qualified to make such a comment about Prime Minister Brown, watching from across the pond as I do. Even a visit to the UK would not offer me much additional insight in regards to the politics of Great Britain, sorry pal, just not my place, nor my style.

I will not go so far as to call Bush an idiot, he has done some things which I vigorously disagree with and others which I wholeheartedly support...now there's a surprise...NOT!!! I would be REALLY worried if I agreed with everything any politician says or does.

However, I think you are making too much of the video in that classroom, what would you have him do at that point, jump up and start screaming in front of the children or make snap decisions. Personally i think the tone he displayed in that tape was probably just the way he should have dealt with it. He was fairly clearly disturbed by the news he received and any actions he took over the following few minutes would not have helped anyone, but could conceivably caused even more harm than was being done in NYC.
