File --> Restore

Then browse to the dpb file. With the headshot updates, most of the options will be greyed out because the other info isn't included.
Just keep the default "let me compare" for headshots. Should you have images of your own, it will bring up a screen where you can compare your image with the new one, and either select to keep your own, or replace.

I've just started using these headshot databases and I must confess, it's definitely a great addition to the community. All I need to do is import the data, check with existing photos (if any) and accept the changes ... DONE!

I think later down the line I might make one myself with just Japanese actors, as I have a lot of Japanese discs and am a pretty big fan of Japanese movies and TV series.

Johnny Williams the actor has a picture of John Williams the composer. Pretty sure it's from the latest headshot file.

I think the reason it happened is that John Williams the composer was credited as Johnny Williams early in his career (A Guide for the Married Man, Penelope) and the two entries may need to be differentiated by BY, or any Johnny Williams for the composer need to be changed to John Williams since I'm confident without looking at the CLT that the latter is the most common name he uses.

Great work! I love this dbase as it helps me to immediately incorporate nice headshots in my collection.

I'm currently working on adding more Japanese actors/crew headshots to my personal collection. Are you interested in that for possible future updates? If so, please let me know (and also how I can submit my additions to your dbase) and I'll gladly do so.

Taro,

Check the 13th post on page 13 ( ) of this thread. You will find an explanation on how to create a small update with just the headshots you select. We are surely interested in any updates. If needed, I have webspace available to host it for you.

a small warning to everyone:

90% of the "improved" headshots in Yves' database are just zooms, some with horrible effect (use stretched to fit instead of original size to see it). At the same time, some pictures were replaced with worse ones (like the stone old Lauren Bacall). Sure, there are some new ones and a few improvements here and there, but the noise ratio was so high for me it was absolutely not worth the hassle (i was hitting k for keep current all the time) and I had to cancel the whole import. As always YMMV.

Instead of cancelling it may be worth selecting to keep all existing, but accept all new. Depends on your philosophy: is a bad headshot better than no headshot?

Which makes me wonder... is there a way to view all new headshots added?

I agree that zoom can give a bad result on a streched image. But on the layout, images are not streched, and when we have a tiny head because the person is taken from waist, I do prefer real headshot. I also remove texts. But I understand your point of view.

For age, I choose middle career headshots for old actors, that is why I replaced Bacall's photo by an older one. I use custom headshots for young Bacall (Key largo (1948)) and for old Bacall (Birth (2004)). But there is no way to share custom headshots.

I do not know exactly how many new headshots I have in this update. But zooming photos reduce the size of previous ones, and , as I said, this update is 12 Mo larger, so I evaluate new ones to between 600 and 800... I think it might interest some users.

I wouldn't apologise here. If they don't like the photos you chose & like they can always find their own. I downloaded one of your updates a while ago & although I didn't use all of the photos, plenty did get updated. As with covers, headshot photos are very subjective as to what is better. However, unlike covers which can just be scanned in, most of the time headshots need to be found somewhere on the net. I applaud those who take the time and effort to find them & then upload them for the rest of us.

I say keep up the good work

In a lot of cases where people post big headshot collections, I only find about 20-80 improved ones (don't now how much new ones are added though), but they all are welcome. I can understand that some feel like it is not worth the work, but since everybody is free to decide if he wants to do this work...

Also looking for "better" headshots is in al ot of cases very subjective. I see databases like the one from "surfeur51" or from "DarklyNoon" not as "better" databases, but as databases that give me choices. Some pics are better, some are worse, and some pics are kept or taken just for the sake of personal preference.

And maybe I'll upload my collection, too. Just to give all the people that are willingly to check these for one or two hours some alternatives to their pics.
