I honestly couldn't say what my first dvd was.  The day I sold my VHS collection (around 900 of them) I took most of that money and bought a whole mess of dvds at the same time.  I do remember my very first VHS tape... E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.

I bought TRON and Lost in Space together in the fall of 1998, 3 months before I bought a real DVD player - I had to watch them on my computer DVD-Rom drive.

On 7/4/97 I bought a new computer with a DVD-ROM drive. It came with my choice of three free DVD's
from what at the time was an extremely limited selection at a local Best Buy. I got My Fellow American's, Tin Cup and Caddyshack. Oh! if I only knew then what I know now.

I got Telling Lies in America with my Hollywood decoder card when I brought my first DVD drive for my pc back in 98 or so/

I can't say for sure but I know that June 15, 2002, I bought Stargate SG-1, season 1 from Amazon (b/c I kept the receipt) and that's the earliest date entered into the database.

However, I'm not sure that it's the first I ever bought.

I also know that I found the profiler on Oct. 22, 2004, because that's when I entered in 50+ dvds and while I've made big purchases, none that big!

I bought three from Ken Crane's back in 1998, The Pelican Brief, Copycat & Contact. This was a time when locally in Australia there were literally only about three titles you could buy which is why I went online shopping from an early date!

My collection is relatively young - my first step into the dvd world was a dvd from a magazine: "The Fan" from 1996 with Robert De Niro, bought in 2003.

Shortly after this I began replacing my 500 VHS collection

Mars Attacks! A total impulse buy. I didn't even own a player yet. That lasted about 20 minutes until I walked to the nearest Future Shop. This was May 1997.
