From where I am I could drive non-stop for 24 hours before I leave the country. If I drive north for 3 hours then turn northwest I could drive for over 40 hours before I left the country.

I could do exactly the same, but I would sure get wet and I am not sure my car would be too happy at the end of it!

When I was in the US Air Force, they threatened us with a reansfer to Franve if we screwed up.
Very few of ever screwed up under that treat.

40 hours? Phst...that's nothing.  I couldn't even drive from my house to my parents' in that time.

I love the fact that Africa is missing! At first I was thinking, wait a second isn't there something below europe besides water? Then I went and put in my copy of Planet Earth and found that there is something below Europe: Africa.

Gee maybe I should create a map that shows the perception here of Euros. The largest country, by far would be France,  Do you guys really want to go down this road?

If you exclude Russia, it IS the second biggest country (i think) As far as Europe goes, I always imagine UK to be much bigger then it really is o_O

Hey, what happened to Africa?? Is Africa just a nonenitiy?
I live in Africa and have found most Americans I meet to be incredibly insular - One even commented to my father while on a flight from Toronto to New York (we were on our way back to Johannesburg) that on our arrival here it would be great to be back at the seaside - I mean really!  Johannesburg is 6 hours away from the coast by road and 1 hour by air!!! and at least 4 hours away as the crow flies!

You now what's really interesting?  The percentage of Americans who have never left the country for any reason.  It's something ridiculous like 80+%.  While I find the map a little annoying, it is frightening just how geographically challenged some of my fellow citizens are.

Well I loved the first map! It was simply hilarious!

And I want to add one more funny thing about American's Geogrpahic ignorance:
Americans are NOT stupid - WITH SUBTITLES

Take a look, it's to die for.

Anyway, I saw someone talking about adding a map like this for Europeans. I'm on it! Just waitting to see it! :D

I'm glad to see that you only needed Planet Earth to decide on the name of the missing continent..

Ps - You can add your map to your profile so everyone can see you are from America.
