From what I've read, the third film, 'Twilight Watch', will be filmed in the US and I believe I even heard in English.  It will really be different if that's the case.

IIRC I heard it was being made by Fox and may well use a whole new cast which means they may well Americanise it way too much for fans of the first two... though I hope not

I've also read that while there are three films planned, there are actually four books.  I am not sure what that means to the film franchise.

I haven't read the books but I think I recall hearing they don't relate directly to the films so that Day Watch (film) is actually based on parts 1 and 2 of the Night Watch novel and not on the Day Watch novel at all!

Soooo... bringing this one back to the top since the R2 DVD is due out in a fortnight's time... WTF do they think they're doing putting it out just with a single Making Of doco when Night Watch came with commentary, text commentary, deleted scenes, loads of featurettes etc.

Also, if it's the same as the R1 I assume we'll get player generated subs instead of the cool 'swirling blood subs' which apparently have only been produced for the theatrical version and since this is the extended one they can't put them on... grief; at least do a double disc release with the two different versions on then!

Did Night Watch not sell as well as expected (I know on another DVD related Forum I go to it was not very popular) or has anyone heard rumours of a SE release coming sometime down the line?

I am still waiting for an International release of Night Watch in R1.  The US version of Night Watch has too much cut out of it as it was the US theater release.  I have seen both though.

Originally, Night Watch was supposed to have a huge theater release in the US, but some reason didn't happen.  About a year or so later it showed up as a DVD.

I have read the first book (own but havent read the next two yet).  The four are Night Watch, Day Watch, Twilight Watch, and Dusk Watch.  Ok so they are doing three films from fout books, but here is best part in my mind.  The movies Night Watch and Day Watch are both taken from the first book (Night Watch) so it is more like Night Watch Part 1 and Night Watch Part 2.

I heard originally that it was supposed to be a trilogy but then they decided to put the final two instalments into one film, that film being Daywatch.
I haven't heard anything else about a third film.

The third one still has its spot at IMDb. If it is done, I understand it will be filmed with American money and outside of Russia. The Russian part of the story was wrapped with Day Watch, the third one will stand on its own (or not ).
