What gets speed up is th time for FF to launch, after the launch your dependent on connection speed etc. Example loading DVDp has the (horizontal moving bar) progress graph. This would be faster if it could "prefetch."
Prefetch does not speed th boot process up. Prefetch speeds the launching of application. Deleting the content of prefetch will slow (right after deletion) the next launch of a prefetched program. Prefetch folder has a specified number of files it can hold & least used program prefetchers will be removed when full. Deleting the content of prefetch does not help or hinder operations. I used to have a batch file for deleting prefetch, but gave it up pointless.
Don't forget today is "Microsoft Patch Tuesday" 2nd Tuesday of each month M$ offers critical patches. It's important!

Yes, that's true, but if you get (with a given connection of 16 MBit/s) no faster startup of the program and a quite small site like the Login of Invelos (which BTW I have cached) where might be the use of this tweak? By using "Stream Explorer" it is shown that the prefetch file of Opera (and presumably FF too) is used anyhow. No matter if you flag the prefetch in properties or not. | | Posted: | | | | One of those is probably IE7 trying to trick itself into getting installed again. I can't tell you how many times I told the update to ignore IE7 only to have it show up again later. It's flagged as a critical update every time too to sneak in with the auto-updates. |
