A sad loss indeed.

So let it be written, so let it be done!

May he rest in peace, and God bless.
It is really sad, but we are losing all our great legendary actors. I don't think there are many more still alive today. The greats of the golden age of Hollywood are passing and coming to a close.

Wikipedia does not know if he is born 1923 or 1924.

Well, I still see "(October 4, 1923 (or 1924) – April 5, 2008)" behind his name.

I meant, the Wikipedia did know when I looked the first time. It was only after that it became "unsure".

GET YOUR HANDS OFF HIM, YOU DAMN DIRTY APES!!!  One of the best lines ever uttered.  He was a great man, an incredible actor, and a true believer in his country and its Constitution.  May he live forever in our hearts and in our minds through his contributions to society and his films.

RIP

Charlton Heston, Man, Father, Actor, PATRIOT...

I may have disagreed with some of his personal political and social beliefs but I always admired and loved his work, grew up with it I suppose. Just saw his Rodrigo de Bivar a couple of weeks ago in El Cid after TOO many years - great!

Sadly, I'm seeing some real insensitive folk out there with recent postings, blogs, etc.

I guess I'm one of those people who separate the person from the roles they play at times. Am I wrong to do this? I don't feel so.

People always try to tear down those who have done great things.  It is very sad that when someone is unable to accomplish something they need to attack someone who has.  I love action movies, scifi and westerns he was great in all of the ones I have seen him in.  Finally I am a gun owner and will always have a warm place in my heart for Mr. Heston.  I hope his final ride was as fantastic as he was.

Even though this is one of the milder things said about Charlton Heston since his death, I fail to see any humor in it.  This is precisely the sort of insensitivity Chazcdc54 and Lord of the Sith speak about.

People who express those views of Mr. Heston should remember that he actively supported Martin Luther King, Jr. during the early civil rights days -- when it was dangerous for people to do so.  He deserves more respect than some have been showing toward him.  I hope you don't mean it the way it sounds, Widescreen.
