So I'm a season behind, but I can watch four episodes during a prime time 3 hour slot,
plus I can watch what and when I want.

You're preaching to the choir brother!

I do watch new stuff on TV, but I greatly prefer TV on DVD.

These are the types of shows I like to watch on DVD, no commercials, no waiting for the next episode;
and no weather watch or station crawls running over the screen.

That describes ALL TV shows I watch.  Just out of curiosity, what shows don't you mind all that crap on?

I feel compelled to note that we DVD watchers have our own crap to put up with.

Not only do we have the antipiracy stuff, but why do I need THREE DISCLAIMERS in English, French, and Spanish, about the opinions in the commentaries belonging to those out of whose mouths they emit? The commentaries are in English only, so shouldn't an English disclaimer be enough? And for that matter, shouldn't opinions belonging to the people who express them be the default assumption anyway? Why do we need these stupid disclaimers at all?

Because people these days will file a lawsuit for anything they think will earn them a dime.

Yeah, that stuff sucks, but it doesn't really bother me too much.  It's a small price to pay.  And with TV on DVD (the topic here), it's even better on a player that remembers where you left off.  Then you only have to see it once for each disc.  Not each time you put the disc in.

Just let the little warnings remind you just how much your government thinks or cares about you.
You think the FBI or Interpol cares if someone steals your goodies.
The best you can hope for is the local police comes and fills out a form and gives you a number
so you can put in an insurance claim.

That goes for the FDA, FCC, EPA, etc., they all have they goon squids.
They,ll jump on the little guy, but they large corporations, have their large legal staffs and large donations to both political parties to call on.
We don't need stinkin' IMDB's errors, we make our own.
Ineptocracy, You got to love it.

Three?  I saw one recently that had around a dozen!

I think Fringe has potential - likewise, I saw the X-Files tie-in but I also see tie-ins from Alias (though mostly with the super-tech).

Then again, I also thought Journey Man and the Bionic Woman had a lot of potential and I rather enjoyed those shows....

Checked it out - very nicely done. Owes much to X-Files (see the titles) which is way better in my view and is derivative but is interesting, well shot, acted and written.

Anyone see an interesting coincidence: the heroine was in an isolation tank (nice lighting and image but it should have been totally dark in my view cutting off as much sensory input as you can) and the reference to Altered States is obvious. Even one of its stars, Blair Brown was present in the episode. That is some neat bionic work there with her right arm! Way to go J.J.!

Saw it on the second run last night and was really impressed.  I didn't read much of this thread before I watched it, but I'd say I agree with most of what has been said here.

Looks to me like House MD meets the X files. I fell a sleep so I will watch it tonight thanks to the world of DVR's.

What I saw was scary. Guy getting ready to kill a woman then ET is born. LOL makes X-Files look tame that's for sure.

So far, I'd say Fringe is playing a winning game.

Which means it'll be canceled soon.
