You actually watch the movies?... weirdo!

I forgot something in my definitions:

movie collector : watches the movies
dvd collector : stares at front and back covers

To be serious, I thought that most people would say they are first movie collectors, but I'm really surprised by the number of users that cannot choose between movie or dvd... That probably explains why we have so passionate discussions about quite nothing (18 pages to choose between 20th or twentieth when it takes 10 seconds to change in one's personal database).

But 10 seconds is only the time to switch the data in the field.  Then it takes maybe another 20-30 seconds for Profiler to update the profile before you can go on to the next title.  If you have, say, 200 20th/Tentieth titles in your database (not an unreasonable amount) we're up to 6000 seconds, or nearly 2 hours.  That's not an insignificant amount of time.

That said, I agree that the thread you mention doesn't warrant 18 pages of discussion.

Saving a profile from the DVD->Edit screen should be very fast (under a second on my machine), so that may be an indication of an issue.  Try disabling all plugins temporarily to see if that resolves the slowdown.

There's also a feature under Tools->Edit Studios that will allow you to replace studios in all profiles at once.

Yes, I know that. When I wrote ten seconds, I just meant a very short time. Probably less than five.
