For those who don't know and might be interested, the Illinois House of Representatives voted today 114 to 1 to impeach Governor Rod Blagojevich.  That is the first time a sitting Illinois governor has been impeached in the state's history (since it became a state in 1818).

The Senate trial is scheduled to begin on Jan. 26, and is expected to last 7 to 9 days.  In the process of coming to this vote, the impeachment committee questioned Roland Burris, the former state attorney general that Blago named to fill Obama's empty seat, about a $1.2M payment he received during the first gubernatorial campaign he lost to Blago.  Reporters are all over that like ants on a fallen apple, which may end up torpedoing his appointment.
