Did you actually particularly like Heath Ledger back when he did flicks like The Patriot, Ten Things I Hate About You and A Knight's Tale? I liked him back in the day. 'A Knight's Tale' was one of the first blu-rays I purchased. If you look at his work then compared to what he did in Dark Knight, the nomination is well deserved...though I expect he wouldn't have gotten it if he were still alive. What bugs me about the Oscars, and nobody in this thread has changed this opinion, is that they have an 'elitist' attitude. I for one was not very impressed with him in previous works. But he was the BOMB in Dark Knight  . The work he did on that film deserves an Oscar nomination. I totally agree with Max on this one. I didn't even consider him a credible actor before TDK, and with that performance he just dominated the movie for me. That said, there were shades of acting talent shining through in Brokeback Mountain, in which he walked all over Jake Gyllenhaal's performance and completely overshadowed him. I have to say though, it is my opinion itaht JG is one of the worst actors in the business today - with the only exception being his performance in Donnie Darko, where he is made for the part. | | | DVD
