| | Posted: | | | | It all depends on the title. It all depends if it has to load java (like all Fox titles which takes about 90 seconds to load) or some other program. The starup/tray open on my Panasonic is pretty good, though. |

What's realy taking time is to open US Blus with safety stickers on all sides..  I use at least ten times the amount of opening an EU one... The popcorn can get cold in meanwhile, here you have to lay down plans of order to do things... Wondered if I should give one of each to my father to open an just listen to all the new words that will come out when he starts on the US cover...  he hates everything wrapped in plastic and would probably wreck the cover with his new powertool he got for christmas, that if he have been able to get it out of the package. | | | | We are all at the same age, only at different time... |

Get rid of is the clue here, the second worst thing that can happen is that the sticker doesent have the blu-ray logo cut outs and when removed it takes half the ink with it... and the worst thing that can happen (that I have seen), is when the paper is missplaced and the stickers covers them and destroyes it when removed...  oh. feeling my bloodpressure rising only by thinking about it. but agree with the quick solution to just get it started | | | | We are all at the same age, only at different time... |

This is what I do when that happens, and it works without any damage 90% of the time...unless the stickers are extremely adhesive and just pounded down hard on the covers: I split them in the center with a box cutter as has been previously mentioned. I then pull up and detach the sticker halves from the hard plastic part of the case, but leave them intact on the clear top plastic. I then grab the cover under the plastic at the opposite end and pull the cover out ever so gently...while still firmly holding the sticker firmly at the top, sometimes moving your fingers around the sticker. The covers then usually detach from the stickers without any residue or damage at all. I can't really think of an easier way to explain the method, but it works perfectly 9 out of 10 times. Yes, security stickers are a pain...and we can thank shoplifters for being forced to put up with them.  | | | | Corey |

Over here, most of the time the DVD/Blu-ray boxes are inside slightly larger security boxes which have the sticker on the inside of them. The box themselves can only be opened at the checkout (well it could be smashed but I think they'd hear  ). This saves any worry about damaging any part of the product & only adds a few extra seconds to the purchase time. |

Happend to me once, paper was shreded in the top, but the webstore let me send it back. However during the time that I received the disc and till they could return it, they changed the policy to NOT send to P.O.Boxes(which I have) so I got a refund instead of the disc Then I had to order it from another webstore, but all in all I saved some bucks that way  ...or did I.. Hastings stores put all of their Blu-ray discs in those hard plastic boxes, which can only be unlocked at the register upon purchase. They used to also do that with all DVD releases they sold, but then stopped for some reason not long ago. If a person really wants to steal something, the stickers are going to be a minor obstacle at best. The locked hard plastic boxes previously mentioned are far more effective, and much more difficult to pry open. Even with the "key" they often have a tough time opening those at the register. | | | | Corey |

| | Posted: | | | | I work at a store with those boxes to prevent thefts...they're called bulldog keepers. If you can remember which end goes where, they're not too hard to open, a lot easier than the older style DVD and CD ones that we use as well.
They work great, except that there is a group that already has stolen the keys to open them so they can still steal them. *sigh* Luckily, they haven't hit our store yet with them.
The tape, however, is already on the blu-ray, so no escaping from it. Heat can sometimes release the glue (I use my hair dryer) without tearing the paper, though! | | | | Lori |
