Personally I love it and use it as an excuse to spend far too much on my wonderful wife, which I'd love to do all the time but can only aford to do (well, just about aford) a few times a year. Yes, things like flowers and chocs in heart shaped boxes get huge price hikes over what they're normally worth for the day but if it makes her happy then I'm happy to oblige (actually missed out on cards and chocs this year and gave nice (non-tacky!) lingerie... and a DVD she wanted!). FWIW she gave me a bottle of my favourite expensive gin and a really nice silk shirt. So we both do well out of all the gifts we gave and received  Actually it is also the anniversary of our first official date though that wouldn't make any difference if it wasn't! |
