Actually, DVD Profiler does not qualify since it's a DVD cataloging tool not a Movie Cataloging tool .

The poll is mixing apples and oranges by putting Mac and Windows apps in the same poll.  It's going to scew the results.  For example, nobody with only Macs will ever vote for a windows app because they'll never actually have that app.

But the results are still surprising when PCs outnumber Macs 9 to 1.

Come on DVD Profiler people, get your vote in!  We're currently running only 11% or 12%, while the MAC OS "Delicious Library" is at 31% - 33% !

hm, well the poll is closed.
Libra won of all the windows apps, I tried it out cause I wanted somewhere to keep tabs on my games.
So I fiddled around with it, added stuff. Imported my DVD Profiler collection.

and... its terrible. It looks like crap as wel.
It searches online retailers for cover scans and such. I had to use the UK version of Amazon for my things, which means no Norwegian locality as far I could see from the tinkering I did with.
I didnt like it at all.. but there must something more too it since it got way more votes than DVD Profiler.. or maybe people aren't aware enough of DVD Profiler. Or perhaps its the 0$ price that attracts them.

I'd bet that that certainly helps.

Note though that I'm NOT suggesting that DVDP goes down that line. I see nothing wrong at all paying a one off fee for it.

Advertising on other sites wouldn't hurt though.

I mentioned this in my comments on Lifehacker as well. I am a huge fan of Open Source/Freeware applications, but I realize that same programmers must charge for the software and that the me is acceptable

I have very few programs on my computer that I have paid for, but as far as DVD Profiler goes it was money well spent, because I have gotten much more than 30$ worth of entertainment out of it.

Being a programmer myself I have quite a number of paid programs in the 30$ range when I thought it was worth it - WinRAR, Beyond Compare, DVD Profiler, ... But I also use a lot of free software (Firefox, Thunderbird, Sunbird, PSPad, XAMPP, VLC, ...)

The only pricey software on my computer is Windows XP Pro (180€) and Office 2003 Basic (130€ / Word, Excel, Outlook - the latter I don't use). But I've been using them for years now and don't plan to upgrade either of them.

There are definitely some features in Libra that i'd LOVE to see in DVD profiler. If a free program can do it, surely a paid one can as well.

I'm sticking with DVD Profiler, but why not get the best of both worlds?

I will put up a post in feature request

Personally, I suspect a whole lot of folks voted who have almost zero interest in actually running such a program.  From that perspective, price and the hottest screen cap are going to win every time.

The poll seems to be closed. Unlike that other poll we referred to in this thread, which went on for years. Can't find it now, else I might give that one another vote.
