But acording to the rules you should enter the real name, where this differs from the credited name, and you should use the CLT to see what the real name is. These two don't always match, so I'm not sure what to go with, the real name, or the most used name.

Use the "Credited As" field where the person's name differs from the credited name.

To determine whether to enter the name directly as credited, or to use the "Credited As" field, use the Credit Lookup tool.

It is the most commonly credited form. Here is how Ken himself clarified it..

The lookup tool is not to be blindly trusted, however it does outweigh other sources, including autographs.  The common name is not intended to always reflect the "real name", but the most commonly credited name.

However, if a user documents errors in the database where the credit is not entered properly, that can and should be considered.  Better yet, correct the entries, assuming you own the discs in question, thereby correcting the lookup results.

See the line I put in bold.

And so it can be the real name if it equals the most credited form.

But shouldn't the rules then say: "Use the most commonly credited name" instead of "use the person's name"?

Should it? probably... but that is totally up to Ken since he is the only one that can edit the rules we can only wait for him. Apparently to this point he feels his clarification here was enough. He then depends on us to spread the word when needed. I am sure if/when this becomes a big enough problem (contributions wise) he will update the rules. Until then we just go by his clarification. This is not the only place in the rules that he has clarified on the forum only.

They should indeed. The myriad of "additional" rules to be found somewhere hidden deep down in these forums is rather staggering - and most users, certainly not new ones, can't be expected to "guess" what to do...

Good grief. Do you have access to copies of any given birth certificate, none of us can determine what a person's name is. We can only deal with data that is presented. Is Gemini76 YOUR name...I rather doubt it, but it is the data that we have on you. Seems like splitting hairs to achieve an agenda.

In some degree I do know, or have the ability to find a persons name. Like we earlier discussed, The Rock; at least now we know that's not his real name, but it is still what he's most commonly credited as.

And Gemini76 is not my name, that's my username. You should know the difference.
