Skip I went with #2 as well. Quoting Unicus69: Quote: Quoting m.cellophane:

I wouldn't. Penn & Teller is a duo known by that name, Jadakiss & Sheek are not. Do we have to know what they're "known by" in order to submit the credits? No, and I don't believe I said we did. My point...if they were a duo or group, I would submit them as a duo or group. Since they aren't, I wouldn't. As an example, I would enter a credit of 'Aerosmith' as a single entry but I would enter a credit of 'Steven Tyler & Joe Perry' as two entries. How you do it is 100% up to you. If you didn't say it before, didn't you just say it now? How am I supposed to know if they are a duo or group or not from the credits? (the bolds are mine) | | | ...James

If you look at the parts I bolded, you will see that this is how I would do it. Nowhere did I say this is how we or you should do it. In fact, I was quite clear in saying how you did it was 100% up to you. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | Jadakiss & Sheek did the song for the movie Honey named J-A-D-A. They're not a permanent duo and therefore they better be split up into two separate names to ensure linking for future use. It's the same for the uncredited duo Christina Aguilera & Missy Elliot who sang the song Car Wash in the movie Shark Tale. To ensure as credited one could enter Jadakiss & Sheek in both credited as fields but I wouldn't. | | | Martin Zuidervliet

Missy Elliott as Herself Jadakiss [Jadakiss & Sheek] as Himself Sheek [Jadakiss & Sheek] as Himself Shawn Desman as Himself
Then the notes for credited as would make the "himself" proper. Themself sounds wrong, and Themselves is way wrong when dealing with one person. I thought about doing it that way, but the way it would end up looking in the cast list would be: Missy Elliot............... Herself Jadakiss & Sheek...... Himself Jadakiss & Sheek...... Himself Shawn Desman........ Himself So I decided it would look better keeping the plural, so you get: Missy Elliot............... Herself Jadakiss & Sheek...... Themselves Jadakiss & Sheek...... Themselves Shawn Desman........ Himself Which isn't perfect, but I think is slightly better. Either way are acceptable though. |

It both preserves the on-screen credit (Jadakiss & Sheek) while still enabling the linking with the entries for Jadakiss and for Sheek as well. This seems like the best all-round. | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -- Thorin Oakenshield |

The problem with using the "Credited As" of: Jadakiss [Jadakiss & Sheek] as Himself Sheek [Jadakiss & Sheek] as Himself is that you have now linked "Jadakiss & Sheek" to "Jadakiss" and to "Sheek" as if all three are synonymous. If you click on either Jadakiss or Sheek in a cast list, you're going to get all movies with either of them in the movie. They should not be linked in this way using the "Credited As" feature. | | | Hal |

| Posted: | | | | Hmm. I didn't know that would happen using the credited as feature. That sucks.
In that case, I'd enter them as #2, since that's the onscreen. | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -- Thorin Oakenshield |

The problem with using the "Credited As" of:
Jadakiss [Jadakiss & Sheek] as Himself Sheek [Jadakiss & Sheek] as Himself
is that you have now linked "Jadakiss & Sheek" to "Jadakiss" and to "Sheek" as if all three are synonymous. If you click on either Jadakiss or Sheek in a cast list, you're going to get all movies with either of them in the movie.
They should not be linked in this way using the "Credited As" feature. If someone shows me another movie credit of these 2 as one name, I'll take back my arguement about using credited as. Of course there will be the alternate UPC's for this movie, but unless you have multiple copies of Honey, then you won't be getting bad linking info since there's no other profiles with this credit. Isn't the credited as there to secure common names? Making up a new name here wouldn't be in the spirit of the rules, at least not to me. Plus using credited as like this isn't going to make (I'm going hypothetical here, making up movie roles for example) Jadakiss' credit in Step Up link to Sheek's in You Got Served, becuase they are 2 diffferent people. Unless they were both credited as "Jadakiss & Sheek" again. "Jadakiss & Sheek" will never be the common name, so they won't be linked. I don't know why I even care, I will never even see this movie, much less own it. I just like proper data and we have enough issues with sound crew to start making up names for groups that don't exist because someone at the studio thought since they sang together this time, they must be a group. |

They should not be linked in this way using the "Credited As" feature. The linking doesn't work that way. Using "credited as" this way will end up with two entries for "Jadakiss & Sheek" in the cast list. Selecting one will get you the credits for Jadakiss, selecting the other will get you the credits for Sheek. At no time will both sets of credits be shown together. You have to remember using "credited as" does not create a separate "Jadakiss & Sheek" credit in the cast database. | | | Last edited: by northbloke |

You have to remember using "credited as" does not create a separate "Jadakiss & Sheek" credit in the cast database. That is my understanding as well. Using the example, if you double clicked on the first 'Jadakiss & Sheek' entry, you would get all the credits for Jadakiss as the link is the common name. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. Sorry, but you are mistaken here. If you use "Credited As" as it is in my last post, you most definitely would link Jadakiss in 'Step Up' to Sheek in 'You got Served'. EDIT: After additional testing, I find that it does not link the two profiles as I thought. | | | Hal | | | Last edited: by hal9g |

You have to remember using "credited as" does not create a separate "Jadakiss & Sheek" credit in the cast database. Using "Credited As" does not create any entries in the actor list for the "Credited As" name. The "Common Name" is what is listed in the Actor List. In the example I cited above the entries in the actor list would be "Jadakiss" and "Sheek", not "Jadakiss & Sheek". However, using the same "Credited As" for each individual credit, does not establish a link between profiles where they are credited individually without using "Credited As", so I stand corrected. | | | Hal | | | Last edited: by hal9g |
