Yes, they are shorts. Does that mean, referring to Skip's "TV style" argument, that we should treat them as if they were TV shows?

Responding to the claim from voting that the rules do not say or imply each movie must have its own disc. The following ia s quote from the box set rules:

Quote:
The term "Box Set" is used to define any release that includes more than one film. The main examples are:

    * Sets where each film is packaged individually, and held together in a package of some kind.
    * Sets where each film is on a separate disc, but not individually packaged. This includes gatefold Digipaks and 2-Disc sets in normal DVD cases.
    * Sets containing 2 films, one on each side of Dual-Sided DVD.

Create individual profiles for each movie in these Box Sets. Use individual UPCs if they are available or use Disc ID (read on a DVD-ROM) if not.

Note that all the examples involve each movie having its own side or disc. Also, it says to create a profile for each movie, not each disc. This is only possible if each movie has a unique disc id or EAN.

Personally I would like to see child profiles for each disc as (at least with Vol 1) all the contents were also released separately (though in different packaging).

BUT I would certainly not No vote leaving them as a single entry AND would be inclined to leave all the info in the single entry, as per a box set of a TV series with m,ultiple seasons as child profiles, as this is what I believe it most closely resembles.
It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong

Not that I would care either way in this situation... but that does say Main example... not limiting it to those examples. There are too many sets out there (especially in the low budget horror releases) where there is actual movie boxsets that each disc has 4 movies... 2 on each side of the disc. And these do need to confirm to the boxset rules. So just saying because there is more then one feature per disc (side) is not enough reason alone.

A short is a film too.  A short film, granted, but the rule doesn't say "feature film."

Now, when these appear as bonuses, the rules clearly exclude them.  But when the raison d'etre of the DVD release is as here the shorts themselves, I think they qualify in the boxset category as "films."

The rules cannot possibly cover every instance. If they said "feature film", I'm sure new issues would arise, e.g. with sets of documentaries.

Best way to deal with the issue at hand IMHO (assuming it's a set containing several discs) is to create child profiles for each disc or disc side and use dividers to separate the individual shorts/cartoons.

I would treat this much the same way as say a collection of Chaplin or Laurel & Hardy shorts.

I've resubmitted adding the child profiles for those who want them (Treating it as a TV set). They should be available when/if the contribution gets approved.

Excellent work.  Any plans to work on other volumes of the series?

I'll do them when I watch them, but due to the amount of work required and the amount of shorts in the sets it will take some time before the next one is ready.
