The following movies don't count in the superclassics range as such, but I would welcome more DVD coverage of Louise Brooks - she does  . There are several releases Pandora's Box and Diary of a Lost Girl, and a couple of her other movies have also been released, but I'd love to see proper work done on at least the following: A Girl in Every Port (by Howard Hawks) Beggars of Life (by William Wellman, and with Wallace Beery) Canary Murder Case (by Malcolm St. Clair, with William Powell and Jean Arthur) It's the Old Army Game (with W.C. Fields) People have been selling cheap DVDRs of these for years. | | | Mika

Since I have everything else in that boxset, I'm having a little difficulty buying it just for that one movie. Champagne is available in R1 in this set which sells for $9.98 currently for new, or really cheap for used. (It's also part of this larger collection.) I haven't purchased it either since I own all of the other stuff. It's undoubtedly a pretty rough public domain print though (appears to be a VHS transfer). 5.1 sound though. Pretty good for a silent film.  | | | ...James

Fired up my old Pioneer Elite, got to charge some batteries to get the remote working.
I was surprised how good looks on LCD. In fact it looks as good as any DVD film of that era.
I don't see why they should have any trouble restore it to Blu.

There are a mountain of things that I really want, however there are very few super classics left. I think we're talking about the type of release that a studio can easily build a multi-disc set around and mount up a marketing campaign for. There's just not that much more out there. |
