I must say i'm surprised at the outpourring of love for Voyager as I felt it by far the weakest of the group and, indeed, the fact that it required a 're-boot' to Enterprise and a totally different approach (whether you agree whether this worked or not!) as a result of it's lack of popularity generally.

FWIW I agree with DJ Doena and DS9 with, especially latterly, flawed characters and a much more thrilling storyline, some of which could have even gone on to be explored in greater detail.

TNG improved as it went along but had an awful beginning and too many 'touchy feely' weak episodes with no grit to them to even out the saccharine. TOS is a classic i find hard to place because it seems so differetn and of its time, but as a groundbreaking series it has few equals. enterprise, again, had a shaky start but was sadly cancelled just when it got going and started to really make its mark IMO.

I marathoned ST:Voy followed by ST:DS9 and while I enjoyed DS9 overall, VOY seasons 5 & 6 really stand out in my mind with rather excellent story writing.

However, if a poll was created for the worst Star Trek series ending, it would go to Voyager.

I had to vote for TNG.  Not because I was afraid of crashes, but I think it told the store that TOS tried to, just better.

TOS set the stage, and for that it has to remain near the top. But, unfortunately, the 1960's special effects just aren't very special any more and the acting was a bit cheesy.  The stories were great, and do make up for the bad and dated visuals to a point.

TNG came along and I was very skeptical.  Having been a big fan of TOS, I just didn't think they would be able to overcome the shadow it cast.  I do agree that the first season was a bit weak, but the characters grew and the actors became comfortable in the roles.  The stories were good.

DS9 started out great, but quickly became a soap opera to me.  Being a big fan of Star Trek, I really tried to watch this.  I forget what season I finally gave up, somewhere in the third and fourth I believe.  I did like the characters, it just didn't go where I thought it should.

I did like Voyager.  I watched the entire series and was disappointed when it ended.  Definitely not the best of Star Trek, but enjoyable.  Captain Janeway definitely made things different.  It was great that they put a female captain in there... gotta assume that we would be past gender based discrimination by this point.  The premise of the series was decent and gave them good material to work with.

I liked Enterprise, but my local network station kept moving it around.  Trying to stay on top of when it was on was impossible, and since I didn't have a DVR at the time, I ended up losing it.  If other markets had the same problem, that could help explain its early demise.  Luckily SciFi (now SyFy) was playing it and I think I may have finally caught all the episodes, but I'm not sure.  This was a good series and they did wrap stories around the beginning of The Federation and the birth of the Prime Directive.

I never saw the Animated Series, so I can't comment on that at all.

Oh well, that's not easy. My order would be:
1. TNG
2. DS9
3. Voy
4. TOS
5. ENT

..but I like all of them, so results may vary!
