I would argue that most commentary tracks are a mixed from a mono commentary and the original dolby surround audio in the background. Therefore IMO those tracks are dolby surround 3.0 for profiler purposes. EDIT: I see that you brought up the same reasoning in the paragraph below the quoted one. | | | Last edited: by RHo |

| Posted: | | | | I also list all commentary tracks of multichannel films as Dolby Surround, not mono. By the way @RHo: I wonder whether Dolby Surround will still be called 3.0 in the new Profiler version. Because 3.0 is definitely wrong. I mentioned this already in another thread some time ago. Dolby Surround is physically 2.0 and audibly 4.0, but it is never 3.0. It's the same problem with this silly logo on the DVDs which have two dots for left and right and one dot in the back for surround but it lacks of the dot in the middle for the center channel. If it would really be 3.0 there would be no audio commentary audible from the center speaker. For me the correct logo for Dolby Surround should look like this: or even better like this: because the first proposal with the four black dots could be confused with true discrete 4-channel-Dolby Surround as it is available e.g. on the English language tracks of the DVDs of COCOON or LADYHAWKE. | | | Last edited: by schaumi |

I agree with schaumi how it should look, but we might have to settle for how the DVD packaging shows it (the 3.0 logo) even if it's technically wrong. Sorry, can't check myself since I haven't got the beta installed anymore as I'm currently in the process of upgrading to Windows 7... | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 | | | Last edited: by Nexus the Sixth |

I know that Dolby Surround has 4 channels matrixed into 2 discrete channels. But I don't care how it is labeled in profiler. |

| Posted: | | | | I only thought it would be nice if it would be the correct symbol in the new Profiler version. So as long as it is just Beta there may be a chance that it could get altered. |
