You can't use the Disc ID of the first disc twice. Unless you use a different locality? Wouldn't matter much for Netherlands/Belgium, which often have the same releases anyway. Maybe US/Canada can be used too. Put the parent in one, and all the children in the other. At least that way we can share the profiles, and make them manual locally. | | | Hans |

| Posted: | | | | In theory that would be possible for cross-border releases, yes. However I would not want my collection to have a parent with one locality and its children with another. And surely that would be unacceptable for the central database as well. So if you were to go down this road, then the parent profile should NOT contain the linking to the child profiles. |

| Posted: | | | | If this was my problem., I'd make the Boxset a UPC of 000000000001 locality ( region1) Canada ., then have all the children with it's own disc ID under the box set .. Lock it off except for Disc ID. I see BTW that TCM has , for this & other type products , a 6 digit sku number preceeded by a letter followed by numbers, and our UPC system requires 12 digits .. | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. | Posted: | | | | This is a little annoying. I should have my box any day now (it's probably sitting in my mailbox as we speak). Guess a manual profile is the only option.
I do know that these Universal discs are pressed discs, and not burned. But hypothetically speaking; if these "burned" Warner Archive (and similar future releases) were to not have a UPC code, would these kind of discs have a unique Disc ID? | | | |

I didn't think they pressed discs since the vinyl days .. Arn't all CDs and DVDs made or created with 'Disc drive's and are either copied to, or burned to .. It's a bad word ( Burn).,, but definitely not pressed .. | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

It's a bad word ( Burn).,, but definitely not pressed .. Most CDs, DVDs and Blurays are 'pressed' discs, just like the old vinyl records, then they are coated with a reflective layer and then sealed with a protective layer. This makes for very fast production. The discs that you can make on your PC are 'burned' using a laser to change the reflective layer so that it acts like the pressed discs. Current DVD burners take about four minutes to burn a DVD, which is very slow for mass production. pdf | | | Paul Francis San Juan Capistrano, CA, USA |

Well, region 1 child profiles are now in the database so you can at least find those. Thankfully the parent profile isn't a lot of work. |

| Posted: | | | | When you go to "Add Disc" make sure you clear the "download profile from Invelos" checkbox, then just type in the title etc. and when you click "Add DVD" and OK a manual profile will be created. |

| Posted: | | | | ^ What he said. You can then pick up release date and images from the child profiles. SRP from the website you ordered from and overview from the back of the set. That should about do it.
To be more specific, once you uncheck "download profile from Invelos", the option of filling in the title appears. Fill that in with whatever you want and leave the UPC blank. This will result in a profile being created with a UPC of "Manual DVD #X", which is about as good as it's going to get. I thought about creating some bogus UPC, but what's the point? You can't add it to the online and locally you simply run the risk of bumping into something else in the future. | | | Last edited: by mdnitoil |
