Quote: What do you think? I think we've done this...twice. After the second attempt, Ken gave us the Rules forum so that we could discuss changes...and we have, even had polls on wording changes and everything. Very little has made it into the rules. Perhaps this attempt will be the one that works. I am as pessimistic as you from previous experience... the threads became hijacked there like they do elsewhere in the forum, and when a concensus was occasionally reached very little made it into the rules | | | |

Yes, if certain people who seem to resort to name-calling every time someone disagrees with them are allowed in, I don't see a point in controlling access. |

| Posted: | | | | Why lock it... Are people that concerned that something that many of us would really like to see will be rallied behind? Really again, how would updating rules more consistently hurt anyone... This in my opinion would only help people. I think if you be honest with yourself that this is something that everyone wants, and I give Sam here a lot of credit for actually voicing it. Some of you vets may just read it as been there done that but nothing's going to change...but if you continue to do that...really nothing's going to change. It's like not voting because you think your vote doesn't count or that it won't change anything. You'd be surprised what changes people in numbers can create. Anyway, I'm really curious to hear why some of you people are saying to lock this thread. Give me an actual logical reason why this isn't something that should be heard. Change happens only when people demand it in my opinion...so seriously, quit sitting back and saying "it's just the way it is, deal with it" cause that excuse just doesn't hold. Anyway, my opinion is that these forums and rules need more input from decision makers. Be that Ken or Gerri, or even some volunteer selected by Ken, doesn't matter. But fact of the matter is, we need some decisions made rather than just leaving it up to the community to battle things out, which is how things currently stand. Once a decision is made, a rule update could so easily be done on the spot but never is. Just my 2 cents. | | | "The perfect is the enemy of the good." - Voltaire | | | Last edited: by Vittra |

| Posted: | | | | Btw Sam, Congrats on your 2nd Star. It seems obvious to me that many readers/posters have liked what you've been saying as of late, much to some member's dismay I'm sure. | | | "The perfect is the enemy of the good." - Voltaire |

| Posted: | | | | Lock it because it is utter nonsense, Vittra. Martian, pete, myself and others have seen these threads before, they have never served to produce the desired effect. They produce typically and apparently, from my years with the program exactly the opposite.

Skip We get it, you don't like change. Sam's second star shows that some people might be open to it. Don't post in the thread, or even open it up. BAM! Problem solved for you. ... Well, at least it would force people to be creative and find new things to be bickering about now and then. While it is impossible to word the rules perfect, it is fairly easy to monitor the areas where people have different interpretation and make improvements/additions to the text. Clearifications have been posted now and then in the forums, but when the rules are not updated at the same time, how are people supposed to find these - using the forum search? | | | Regards Lars |

Skip I have never read anything as retarded as the two lock it posts in all my life (and I have seen FilmAlba post in 3 different forums). If you don't want to read the thread, don't, just stop trying to knock people for fighting for things you have given up on through experience. One day, I hope Ken posts requesting all users to jump off a bridge. That will rid the place of the lapdogs. |
