OK folks. I've cleaned up some titles, original titles and deleted incorrect localities. The results:

Jim Caviezel: 52/220 -> 35/213
James Caviezel: 94/477 -> 46/449

So at the moment, James Caviezel is still the most credited name. Mind you, there are still a lot of wrong entries that credit "James", while it should be "Jim", and there still a lot of production years that need to be corrected ('Ride with the Devil' has entries for 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002 for instance, so they count as 4 titles instead of 1). But do you see what a little housekeeping does?

I could update the production years as well, and the results will be Jim/James - 20/31 titles (approximately). So the CLT results still favor James...

James Caviezel is NOT the most credited name, this thread overcome the CLT results:

The lookup tool is not to be blindly trusted, however it does outweigh other sources, including autographs.  The common name is not intended to always reflect the "real name", but the most commonly credited name.

However, if a user documents errors in the database where the credit is not entered properly, that can and should be considered.  Better yet, correct the entries, assuming you own the discs in question, thereby correcting the lookup results.

Well, start cracking then! The database doesn't change itself, does it?

Bumping this thread still seeing users using James Caviezel as the common name.  Hopefully we can at least get a lot of the wrong entries using James Caviezel as the credited name when it really is Jim Caviezel fixed.

At the risk of getting members mad at me who think that you shouldn't submit to profiles you don't own, I figured this little common name problem obviously wasn't going to solve itself on it's own. It's been almost a year since the thread was started and James is still incorrectly in the lead in the CLT results even with marcelb7's awesome work to help clean up the system.

Today a bunch of submissions I made to correct incorrect credits went through. Not all of them, there's still a bunch more that should go through in the next two days or so. I only corrected the incorrect credits (only recieved one no vote from a member that I believe didn't understand the results of this thread) and cleaned up some incorrect Production Years and did some work on the original title fields.

The CLT results previously and now:

James Caviezel 41/447 --> 36/359
Jim Caviezel 34/241 --> 34/333

After all the contributions I've made have gone though, I believe that Jim Caviezel will finally be, in the CLT results, the most credited name, as it should be.

I also made contributions to all profiles that had James Caviezel [Jim Caviezel] to remove the common names and leave the profiles with the proper credit of Jim Caviezel (some profiles have gotten as many as 45 yes votes on them), pointing the voters in the direction of this thread to let them know that Jim Caviezel should be the common name (those haven't all gone through yet). Hopefully that will help in allowing members to realize that James Caviezel isn't the common name and shouldn't be used as such for profiles with Jim Caviezel.

When the rest of my contributions go through, I'll see what the CLT numbers are and post 'em here. Hopefully the tide will properly swing.

I also noticed that Kluge had made a couple of contributions to try and help clear up this little problem, so much props to him for taking on the task!!

They're both still far from being perfect. Lots of profiles on both sides need corrections to their production years, and lots of profiles on both sides still need proper original titles entered, but it's a start.

I know this one was settled quite some time ago, but here's one more to continue to seal the deal so-to-speak:
