This turns out to be utter nonsense if that user changes his vote as Pete did in this scenario. Now we have "no" votes saying: "agree with Addicted2DVD", but he voted "yes" now. Please write the reason for your vote. Don't just write "agree with userXX" or something like that. I never saw it that way. I am one of those who is guilty of, "Agreeing with others" and from this point forward, will never do it again. Thanks. Greenie for you. | | | Marty - Registered July 10, 2004, User since 2002. |

I also did not see it that way and will now try to avoid just typing agree or agree with xxxx. I did however make an exception on this profile and vote that I agree with those stating it would be nice to add the disc id to the notes -Agrare |

Ken has changed the rule!
New Rule:
Quote: If your Disc ID differs from the Disc ID in the main database, you may change it and re-contribute it. All Disc IDs are stored in the main database and are used for disc identification within DVD Profiler.
We no longer need a larger contribution to submit alternate disc IDs!
Thank You Ken for hearing our plead in the Rules Committee Forum!
See everyone... it can work!
I had voted yes to begin with because the profile "could" be complete, and then the disc ID would be the only contribution left to make. This would, at that point, make it the "widest" contribution possible.
I would also love to see people stop writing "agree" or "agree with user XX" as their voting reason. This turns out to be utter nonsense if that user changes his vote as Pete did in this scenario. Now we have "no" votes saying: "agree with Addicted2DVD", but he voted "yes" now. Please write the reason for your vote. Don't just write "agree with userXX" or something like that. I hope you understand why I voted no... as at that time it was against the rules... whether there was nothing else to be done on the profile or not. I had always hated that rule... but I don't pick and choose which rules to follow. Of course that is also why I petitioned for the change in the rules and I changed my vote as soon as I saw the change was made. As for your thing about "Agree" votes... I try not to do that though I have been guilty here and there at times I usually try to be specific with what it is I agree with in my notes... like... I Agree... Cast from IMDB Not Allowed. (for an obvious one) On a side note... I am thrilled to see moderators getting involved with people bypassing the profanity filter... as that has always been a pet peeve for me. | | | Pete |

I guess the god fearing can't sleep at night knowing dollar signs are being used to spell certain words I think I am missing something, but could you explain to me exactly what your contribution is to this community? Thanks. | | | Marty - Registered July 10, 2004, User since 2002. |

I guess the god fearing can't sleep at night knowing dollar signs are being used to spell certain words It's simply unnecessary and adds nothing to the quality of the discussion. | | | Hal |

(Nothing to do with God fearing or religion of any kind) I personally was glad when Ken added the profanity filter... and just hated seeing it being bypassed by people... even when they knew the site owners obviously didn't want that type of language on their site. | | | Pete |

Thanks. Well last time i checked i paid for it. And the point i was making i don't think ppl cheating the swearing filter is a back issue in the grand scheme of things when you factor in everything else. |

Fair enough. I kind of interpreted it as something of religious nonsense but it's cool you proved there was an intelligent meaning behind it. |

I have not problem with that, kind of a pet peeve of mine as well, but I do have a question...I made a semi-sarcastic post, with an alternate word for buttocks...and, no, it wasn't the alternate word for donkey...was the entire post bad or was it just the use of the word? I just want to know which line I crossed, or if I crossed 2? | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | I figured as much. Part of me wonders if the mod should only edit the word in such cases or remove the whole post. But I am happy just seeing them do something at this point! | | | Pete |

I will admit, and it is probably because I am not English...and the profanity filter didn't edit the word and never has any other time I have used it...that I didn't know the word I used was profane. Now I do. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom. | Posted: | | | | Wow, learned a new English word: "Profanity filter" and I like the change that disc ids now can be contributed alone. |
