Ridiculous, indeed. If you want, I can order it for you and subsequently send it over to Germany. Just PM me if you'd like that.

Thanks, I had thought about that possibility. But that would still be 15€ (shipped to you) + X. So if I can get it in stores for 19,99€ or less I'll not have lost any money, which is why I'll just wait. Thanks anyways.

Some of the winners seem to be obvious but if Avatar beats out the Hurt Locker it would not be the first time a terrible Cameron film has denied a far more worthy movie of it's credit.

Remember L.A Confidential.

I'm sorry, but Hurt Locker is a terrible war movie.  If it was set in some fictional universe, it may make more sense, but to portray this fiction as anything that even remotely resembling anyone in the US military or situation in Iraq is akin to saying Dirty Harry is an accurate portrayal of your typical police department.

Well if you can ignore that aspect of it is a good film in my view. Lawrence of Arabia, Braveheart hardly accurate.

Besides, numerous soldiers (even ones from the same special units) have said that it's the closest a movie has ever come to capturing what war is like for them.

The Hurt Locker was a decent enough film but, Best Picture?  Not in my opinion.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

Agreed.  I guess the film industry has a different definition for the word 'best' than I do.

I don't think Oscar or any award has any bearing on what i buy. All it does is bring more films to my attention.

I often also find myself at odds with critics i was watching Boy In The Striped Pyjamas. It's a very interesting concept for a story but it felt a little short and the kid that played the son of comedant was a pretty awful actor. There was just no improvisation in his performance it was like he was reading it straight from the scrip i could not engage in it in any way.

Little wonder the attendees have mire fun at the Golden Globe Awards.

Wait, I thought the SAG awards were the mutual admiration society?
