Lostmule indicated he saw the film every weekend for some months as a result of a part-time job, so I reckon he must be working as a projectionist in a cinema or something along those lines.

He should indicate that in the notes. However he was able to do it, the one sure thing...it isn't from a legal DVD. He was very detailed with a complete or near complete Crew list and cast with Roles. there's too much detail there. If he  sat there and wrote it all down on a notepad from the show creds, that's fine, say so

My last point here... you know what ... I should take it out and stop contributing

Just wait a minute.
Sorry, but if you're not willing to name your sources, not only for the rolenames (where third party material is widely allowed) but for the contributed cast and crew, it's no miracle at all that you're suspected of piracy. If you can't see why, I really can't help you.

To sum it up: No valid source -> No valid data

My source the FILM STRIP ITSELF <<---- how can I write it better than that??
Sequence starts precisely at 2hrs,34min and 14 seconds (from the IMAX projector's clock - which I am not authorized to touch.... yet hehe)

Sequence starts right from the first frame when 20 Century Fox MC appears until the name of the director appear (after the word Avatar)... how can I be more precise than that?

The movie has not been released yet, that's just not possible unless you own a pirated copy. What did you do sit in a dark theater, taking notes, not impossible, but if that's you duid explain it. Because you cannot possibly own the movie legally.

Look guys... I don't know how to explain it.. it is from the film itself - Not the DVD, Not a Pirate copy... the film strip on which you can see pictures through ... is that clear?

LOL actually I clean the movie theater - and the washroom - so I can see movies for free (with the sideline I make, I buy more DVDs ha ha ha - had too because the wife was becoming irate at the amount I am putting in buying movies - cheaper than a divorce) ... To go in the projection room, that is another story, I need permission for that - to be able to operate the projectors, you need to be trained, which I am not.... yet

On the note of that contribution: I will let it ride and if the decision makers reject it, even with the full 2 pages of explanation, then I will have understood not to contribute those before the dvd is in my hands - kind of strange when considering that we see many pre-release accepted without the fuss!!

Thanks for the responses guys!

OK, now we're closing in.

It might be a bit complicated with the contribution notes, but I'd write something like: "Been able to watch this movie several times (because of free access to a movie theater) and noted the credits, inaccuracies are possible though"

Only one question left: As far as I recall (might err here, because I watched it several weeks ago), there were rolenames in the credits, why didn't you note them too?
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

That is because in prerelease profiles you usually only find the undisputed and verifiable data like title, UPC, Release Date. Sometimes the leading actors and the director, that's about it.

It doesn't happen all too often that someone can provide a complete Cast & Crew list before the DVD is officialy released.
As you just showed, it does happen though.

Just explain it in the notes, my friend. Here's what we know for sure, it's not out on DVD for about 4 weeks now. Your data is relatively complete, with even Roles, now understand i am not being critical. it's fine to use the ACTUAL film credits in my book, but and i presume this is true, you were taking notes in some form...and not dependent on memory. so explaining how you got the data is fine ...then how did you get it home...a notepad my guess. enough detail so that voters understand what is going on.

For the life of me, I can't understand what the big rush is to get this info into a pre-release profile.  It's not like there won't be a mountain of people slaving over this silly thing the day after release.  I wish the same level of enthusiasm were being applied to all the broken ignored profiles out there.

Most Pirated copies don't have any end credits  they just stop at  'The End'  Page ..

and Avatar never had any opening titles at all...
In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

(rereading some of the notes above here..)
Even taking 'notes on paper' from the film itself  would not be in DVD Profilers Best interests,, as this is DVD Profile  not Movie Profile . .we must take the credits from the DVD as it has been proven before in the past that DVD credits can and do- differ from not only the films profile but even localities/regions have been known to differ.. So the answer would be .--  Wait till April 20th my friend ..

and I do remember that argument between Lostmule and the Professor.. It was over a re release of Roots -2nd Generations and its re release abnormalities between both releases with the same UPC code ..

For the cast yup.. for the crew was absolutely impossible to copy due to size and speed.... some of those lists were simply too long !!!
Ah ok.. regarding the UPC got it!

Thanks

written down.. absolutely out of the question to bring any recording devices - camera and video cam - in the theater... The only place where the manager will authorize those devices is in the party room where the kids do their group things. A couple of time we have hosted journalist and critics in the theater for analyzing the movie and those guys were also on the same rule - They may have portable voice recorder to take notes or like me.. pen and paper.  I like sharing stuff here, but not to the point to be kicked out!

For grin and giggles. I have just look at someone else contribution on the same title.. people who actually voted NO for my contribution, regardless of the length of my explanation here (I cannot edit my notes anymore.. probably because I did too many), and YES to that other contribution who took the data from DVDEmpire and other outside sources... sounds like double standard to me... thought?

Not at all, moles.     The other Contributor provided sources for all of his pre-release data and did not include any Cast/Crew data at all, let alone the kind of detail you provided.

that deserves a 'good vote' LOL

"The authoritative source for information submitted should be the DVD itself.  Please don't submit content from a third party database, and always verify the specifications printed on the cover.  In both cases, errors abound, so always verify the information directly from the DVD whenever possible."

p.s. see what I mean ? ;-)
