I'm a little in between here. In both cases I think that the use of group dividers is the more practical one. Besides I think that the use of group dividers is perfectly fine and even looks prettier. But like TheMadMartian already said, that's a matter of taste. It gets complicated when the decision is made to make a distinction between the several ways groups are credited. All those different group credits should be well-defined in the rules for the one's to use the DVD Profiler group dividers and for the one's not to use the group dividers. That won't be easy and that's in some cases a matter of taste as well.

The question would be whether we are tyrying to capture the information from the credits, or trying to reproduce them visually.
Personally, I would like the first, and then using a group divider is practical. Even though I agree that for 2-person 'groups' it may not look very attractive.

However, it seems we are in the minority.

Not necessarily,
the problem is that we have another opinion than the Supreme Ruler.

And "Yes", I agree with your interpretation and act according to it.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

The Supreme Ruler didn't seem to care that much about it either way, when asked, so all we have to do is to come up with a good argument or wording for the rule (and the support of the majority of course)

I am with KEN here and do it exactly as he wants it.
I think those dividers look pretty good and so far all the contributions where I change it to the new dividers go thru very quickly

Before the use of the dividers we invented data that was not there and we just made duplicates.

But tastes are of course different , and that is what the local database is for

I personally like it the way it is too.

I do too. It keeps us as-credited where we don't have to singularize roles.

This is my line of thinking as well. I think not only does it get us closer to exactly as credited (as there is only 1 role for a group of people) I think it looks better as well.

Count me in this group as well.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

So how should this be entered?

Group divider for 'Reporters' & leave 'Ball Reporters' as individual?
Episode divider for 'Reporters' & Group divider for 'Ball Reporters'?

I'm running into this exact same problem on a daily basis as well, and I'm not sure how to handle it. Using an episode divider is not allowed - though it would look better, these just aren't episodes (also see Ken's post here). Using two group dividers also doesn't give accurate results, as it entirely eliminates the link between Shannon Wilcox, Niloufar Safaie and Tonje Larsgard and the preceding "Reporters" header.

And even if I make up my mind how I want to deal with this, I can be fairly sure that someone else decides on a different way of handling, meaning that we're stuck with the "first one in wins" principle again, including the ramifications for contributing to such profiles. I really would like to see a consensus - better yet: a rule - on this.

They are all group dividers... I know you can't nest group dividers at this point so what I do is use Ken's suggestion from the Rules Committee forum in these cases...

Reporters (Group Divider)
Cast - Role
Cast - Role
Cast - Role
etc.
Reporters - Ball Reporters (Group Divider)
Cast
Cast
Cast
etc.

As I understand it, both should be Group Dividers "Reporters and "Ball reporters"

Actually (and clear from the responses by Pete and Donnie), two alternatives came up in that thread - with Ken saying: "The above isn't an addition to the rules. The alternatives are here for you folks to talk about." As of yet, the matter was never resolved, so we're still stuck with different methods of handling this.

Personally would go with

Reporters (Group Divider)
Cast - Role
Cast - Role
Cast - Role

Ball Reporters (Group Divider)
Cast
Cast

I never said it was resolved... in my eyes noting is resolved till it is in the rules or Ken tells us how to do it for sure. I said I used Ken's suggestion. If you check I believe you will see it is just that his suggestion that was thrown into the mix.

Thanks. Missed that one. Still confusing though. It seems that Ken upgraded the dividers but we still don't have a sensible solution for a lot of profiles
